Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jamal Adams (ranked 677 p4p, 1340 weight class) and Rod De Minaur (ranked 87 p4p, 170 weight class). De Minaur is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Seek and Destroy . Rod De Minaur has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jamal Adams! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Rod De Minaur! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Adams takes a swing at De Minaur's ribcage but misses. De Minaur tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Adams was well out of range. Poor timing from De Minaur. Adams feinted with a counter takedown. De Minaur lands with an overhand left. Adams misses with a jab to the body
letting De Minaur counter with a right hand. Adams fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Adams tries to move into range but De Minaur moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. De Minaur drives through and clinches with Adams against the cage.

De Minaur's coach down at Memento Mori was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on De Minaur's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. De Minaur misses with a punch on the inside.
A head punch on the inside from De Minaur fails to land.
That's one minute gone in the round. De Minaur lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards. De Minaur tries to throw a body punch but Adams avoids it by throwing De Minaur back against the cage. De Minaur swings wildly with an uppercut but Adams uses good head movement to avoid it. Adams turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control! Adams taking a break here but De Minaur is having none of it and regains half guard. Adams wants to work for an arm triangle but De Minaur is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. De Minaur is trying to control but can't.
Adams wants to free his trapped foot but De Minaur is holding on for dear life with his legs.
That's two minutes gone in the round. De Minaur has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Adams is working away from the top position though. De Minaur really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Adams. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Adams is working for a submission of some sort.
Adams sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. De Minaur defending well though. Adams trying to control the action but De Minaur is working from the bottom. Adams is sneakily working for an arm triangle but De Minaur sees it coming and defends easily. De Minaur has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Adams is working away from the top position though. Adams is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Adams prevents De Minaur from improving his position. Adams is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Adams is keen to just control but De Minaur is a slippery customer. De Minaur tries to get to full guard but Adams has control of the leg. Adams is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if De Minaur can do anything to dispel that myth. Adams is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and De Minaur defends it well.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Adams seems to be looking for submissions.

De Minaur has hold of Adams's hands but Adams slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. De Minaur is in trouble now - Adams has advanced to mount! Adams working for a guillotine from mount but De Minaur is in no mood to give up. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Adams is going oldschool here, as he tries to force De Minaur to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so De Minaur shrugs it off. Adams with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jamal Adams dominated that round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Adams tries for a takedown but De Minaur circles away easily and De Minaur counters with a lovely straight right hand! A lazy left from De Minaur finds it's target. De Minaur cracks Adams with a good jab. De Minaur lands a jab to the head.
De Minaur looks to score with a jab to the body but Adams is just out of range. De Minaur lands a jab to Adams's midsection. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Adams with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling De Minaur to score with a decent uppercut.
Adams is rocked! Adams shoots in looking for a takedown but De Minaur manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Adams's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Adams scores with a body shot.
Nice cross by De Minaur. Oh Adams is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
That's one minute gone in the round. Adams throws a sloppy body shot
and De Minaur counters with a big left hand that crumples Adams! He was out before he hit the floor! Brutal knockout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:08 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Rod De Minaur! Rod De Minaur is the new lightweight champion! Rod De Minaur decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
