PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Sorrow Hate (ranked 24369 p4p, 24211 weight class) and Chris Finch (ranked 644 p4p, 617 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Sorrow Hate!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Chris Finch!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Jorge Garcia and Steve Montenegro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

A head kick misses from Hate.

Finch clinches with his opponent.
Hate fails to pull guard.
Finch struggles to land a body shot inside as Hate controls his hands.
Finch digs a right hand underneath Hate's ribcage. Hate let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Hate is trying to pull guard but Finch has him pressed against the cage.
Hate is pressed up against the cage. Finch has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Hate down to the mat. Hate avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Hate misses with a takedown attempt - Finch sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sorrow Hate. That's going to take a lot out of him.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hate avoids the head kick by Finch.
Hate scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Finch doesn't seem bothered though.
Hate misses with a takedown attempt
and Finch counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Finch drives through and clinches with Hate against the cage.
Hate tries to circle away but Finch has him pinned against the cage.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Finch breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Finch throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.

Hate has managed to clinch.

Finch's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Finch lands a nice hook to Hate's body. Hate takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Finch swats away the attempt to clinch by Hate.
Finch lands with a shot to the body.
Hate drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.

Finch moves into the clinch.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Finch takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Finch scores with a shoulder strike.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Finch lands a nice shot to the body.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Finch using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Hate has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Hate tries to pull guard but Finch holds him up against the cage and eventually Hate drops back down to his feet.
Hate jumps guard but Finch stands there with Hate around his waist. Hate gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Finch has Hate pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Finch pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Hate tumbling to the mat - Finch dives into Hate's guard.
Finch throws a big elbow that misses.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Let's hope that Finch has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Finch's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Hate manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Finch manages to get himself to full guard.


That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Finch is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Finch is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Hate stopping the sweep attempt from Finch.
Hate distracts Finch with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Hate has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Finch is proving hard to escape from.
Finch is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Finch pushes Hate off and gets back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chris Finch dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

Hate throws a right and a left that both miss.
Chris Finch seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hate tries to clinch there but Finch circles away.
Hate shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Finch as he avoids it easily.
Finch shapes to counter with a head kick.
Finch scores with a shot to the body.
Finch scores with a jab. Hate acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Hate takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Finch cracks Hate with a right hand to the side of the head.

Hate is rocked!
Finch throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Oh Hate is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Finch lands a big head kick that sends Hate to the canvas! Finch follows up with strikes from the mount that forces the ref to step in and stop the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:40 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Chris Finch!
