PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Bobby Joe (ranked 5331 p4p, 4556 weight class) and Flopsy Dillon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bobby Joe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Flopsy Dillon!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Tiny Johnson and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Dillon shoots in for a takedown but Joe shows good takedown defense.
Joe throws a head kick that half lands.
Dillon misses with a body kick.
Joe swats away the attempt to clinch by Dillon.
Dillon is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Joe was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
Joe will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Dillon throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Joe appears to be looking for a big counter.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Dillon shoots in for a takedown but Joe shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Joe has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Dillon avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Joe escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Joe closes the distance and pushes Dillon back into the cage.
Joe is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Dillon pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Joe manages to break the clinch.
Joe goes for a double leg but Dillon avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Dillon continues to drive forward.
Dillon tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Joe defends well and Dillon ends up having to push Joe into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Joe went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Joe dives in and grabs Dillon's left leg, looking for a takedown. Dillon pushes down on Joe's head and hops out.
Dillon closes this distance looking for a takedown but Joe circles away.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Joe throws a nice outside leg kick.
Joe tries to score a power double leg takedown but Dillon sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Joe somewhat.

Joe looks for a takedown but Dillon sprawls well.
Joe lands a nice shot to the body.

Joe decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Joe is breathing heavily.
Dillon regains full guard. Nicely done.

Dillon is looking for a triangle but Joe pushes his legs off easily.
Joe controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Dillon trying to keep a closed guard but Joe is proving a slippery customer.

Joe's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Joe throws a big elbow that misses.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Joe missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Joe closes the distance and clinches.
Dillon jumps guard but Joe stands there with Dillon around his waist. Dillon gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Joe breaks from the clinch.
Joe throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
Dillon takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bobby Joe dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Joe fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Bobby Joe is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Dillon throws a head kick that Joe semi-blocks.

Joe clinches up against the cage.

Joe breaks the clinch.
Dillon blocks a head kick by Joe.
Joe looks to land a combination but Dillon avoids it well.
Dillon connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Joe momentarily.

Joe tests Dillon's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Joe shoots in looking for a takedown. Dillon tries to sprawl out of it but Joe keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Dillon manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Dillon dives in and grabs Joe's left leg, looking for a takedown. Joe pushes down on Dillon's head and hops out.

Joe drives through and clinches with Dillon against the cage.
Dillon tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Joe smiles and moves away.

Joe shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Dillon as he jumps to the side.
Despite the aggression on Dillon's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Dillon tries a head kick but it misses.
Joe really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Dillon shoots in but Joe avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Dillon looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Joe seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.

Joe takes the fight into the clinch.

Dillon looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Joe is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Dillon gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Joe tries to pull guard but Dillon holds him up against the cage and eventually Joe drops back down to his feet.

Joe will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Horrible takedown attempt by Dillon or perhaps it was just good defense by Joe, which made it look bad.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Joe is defended easily by Dillon.

A close second round but Flopsy Dillon will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Dillon walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Joe checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Dillon misses with a few strikes there.
Joe is looking for a counter combo.
Joe throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Dillon.
Dillon goes for a double leg but Joe avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Joe continues to drive forward.

Joe moves into range and clinches up with Dillon.

and Joe counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Dillon takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Joe has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Dillon uses from the top position.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Joe is on top in guard.

Joe is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Dillon can do to turn this around?
Joe pushes down on Dillon's leg and manages to get into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Joe stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.

Bobby Joe showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Joe has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
