The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Priestley ducks right into an uppercut from Wood.

Wood working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Wood misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Priestley is not content to let Wood control the position. Priestley is looking to get back to his feet here but Wood is keeping cool and he's managed to take Priestley's back.

George Wood seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Wood stuns Priestley with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Wood moves into range and throws a big uppercut. OH! Priestley goes down! Can Wood finish him!? Priestley utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Wood sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Priestley's guard. Wood throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Wood frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Wood lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Priestley hang on?

The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Priestley with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Priestley wants to get back to his feet. Priestley is holding on to half guard well. Priestley really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Wood. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Priestley squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
