PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jared Kushner (ranked 4409 p4p, 4416 weight class) and Joe Jon (ranked 0 p4p, 467 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jared Kushner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Joe Jon!
The judges for this bout are Francis DeMontford, Steve Erwin and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kushner moves into range and clinches up with Jon.
Jon tries to score a body lock takedown but Kushner shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Kushner is pressed up against the cage. Jon has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Kushner down to the mat. Kushner avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Kushner closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Kushner lands in his opponent's guard.
Jon can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Kushner controls the pace.
Jon thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Jon has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kushner is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
A punch combination from Kushner misses.
Kushner throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Jon tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Kushner throws a body kick that misses.
Kushner throws a right hand that Jon ducks under and follows up with a left that Jon also avoids with ease.

Kushner gets caught napping as Jon dives in and scores a takedown. Kushner manages to retain guard.

Kushner is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Jon stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kushner swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Kushner had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Jon defends it easily.

Jon has gone for a leg lock! Kushner slips out almost immediately though and dives into Jon's guard.

Kushner chips away with some ground and pound.

Kushner tries to stand but Jon is controlling from the bottom.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Kushner throws a head kick but Jon moves out of range.
Jon feints the counter takedown.

Jon gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Kushner to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Kushner is breathing heavily.
Kushner takes a decent strike to the side of the head.
Jon throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Jon is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Jon will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Kushner is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Kushner closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Jon to the mat! Jon manages to get full guard.
Jon can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Kushner controls the pace.
Kushner is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Jon is striking off his back. Kushner thinks nothing of it though and passes easily into half guard.

Jon has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Kushner defend it? Jon steps over the head and cranks it - Kushner is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Jon!
