Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Santiago Mahecha (ranked 5236 p4p, 5249 weight class) and Jake Norson (ranked 574 p4p, 575 weight class). Mahecha comes to the cage accompanied by Otra Noche en Miami. Jake Norson is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Santiago Mahecha! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jake Norson! The judges for this bout are Francis DeMontford, Ron Honeybunn and Ben Hemmingworth.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mahecha fails with the takedown. Mahecha misses with a head kick.
Norson gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Mahecha counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. No luck with that takedown attempt from Mahecha. It seemed like Norson was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. Norson tests Mahecha's chin there with a solid looking shot. Mahecha is trying hard to land a takedown here. Norson sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Santiago Mahecha. That's going to take a lot out of him. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mahecha swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Norson counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Norson steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Mahecha. That one must have hurt. Norson tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Mahecha paws at him with a jab and circles away. Mahecha stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Mahecha wants it to stay on the feet. Mahecha with a poor takedown enabling Norson to counter with a crisp jab.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mahecha throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Mahecha fails with the takedown and Norson counters with a stiff right hand.
Mahecha is rocked! Norson throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Norson tries to clinch up but Mahecha circles away and keeps his distance. Mahecha shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Norson sprawls well. Norson wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Mahecha gets slowly back to his feet. Mahecha is breathing heavily. Norson lands the left hand. Norson is looking to clinch but Mahecha is avoiding it.
Mahecha needs to keep his hands up - Norson had a free shot at his head there. Oh Mahecha is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mahecha moves to clinch but Norson breaks away and Norson counters with a huge left! Mahecha is in big trouble! He's backing up but Norson isn't giving him chance to recover. Under a barage of punches the ref has to step in to save Mahecha from any more damage. A dominating finish by Norson!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:08 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jake Norson!
