Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gabino Gonzales!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Hong Kong!
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, Steven Brown and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kong changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Gonzales tries to avoid it but Kong manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Gonzales to the ground. Gonzales escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Kong scores with a takedown into Gonzales's guard.
Kong tries to free his leg and advance position but Gonzales is retaining full guard.
Gonzales knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Kong on the ground.

Kong is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Kong throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Gonzales works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gonzales has momentary wrist control but Kong slips an elbow through the middle.
Kong wants to pass the guard but Gonzales is keeping the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kong engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

Kong works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Gonzales is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Lovelair's MMA that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.
Kong is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Kong connects with a nice short shot to Gonzales's temple.
Kong has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Kong looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Gonzales is trying to get back to full guard.
Ground and pound from Kong.
Kong is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Gonzales on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Gonzales tries to get out of the position.
Kong sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Kong in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Gonzales takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Kong with shots to the head and body - Gonzales looks very uncomfortable down there.
Kong lands a couple of good shots and Gonzales has given up his back, trying to escape the position!
Gonzales covering up well and avoiding damage.

Kong controls the position.
Kong lands punches and elbows.

Kong sinks in the hooks and is looking for the choke. He's got it! Gonzales taps out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:41 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Hong Kong!
