Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jon Hiccup!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Maxwell Leaf!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Saam Ante and Paul Aken.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hiccup with a lazy takedown attempt

and Leaf counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Leaf.
Hiccup seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.
Leaf cracks Hiccup with a solid left hand.
Leaf is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Leaf has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Leaf's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Leaf with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Leaf working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Leaf passes into half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Leaf has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Hiccup defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Leaf.

Hiccup tries to hold on but Leaf pushes him away.
Hiccup is in all sorts of trouble here.
Leaf scoring with strikes but Hiccup is staying in there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hiccup takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Leaf lands a couple of good shots and Hiccup has given up his back, trying to escape the position!
Hiccup is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.

Leaf is working the ground and pound. Can Hiccup escape?
Leaf is throwing punches to the body, looking to soften Hiccup up.
Leaf controls the action.

Leaf is landing with strikes. Hiccup can't take much more of this.
Leaf has his opponent trapped and is landing shots. Not a good position for Hiccup.

Hiccup is rocked!

It looks like Jon Hiccup has been cut.
Leaf cracks Hiccup with a big shot to the side of the head Hiccup is covering up - he's in big trouble! Leaf connects with another shot that knocks Hiccup out cold! Leaf stands above his unconscious opponent and soaks up the roars from the crowd!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:32 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Maxwell Leaf!
After winning the bout, Maxwell Leaf thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
