Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 11 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Spinning Fire! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 15 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Luis Maestre! The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Shigeki Sano.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Maestre lands with a nice combination. Fire backs away looking to recover. Maestre falls off balance throwing a combination
and Fire counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Maestre looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Fire tries to free his leg and advance position but Maestre is retaining full guard. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Fire's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Maestre working for submissions but it's allowed Fire to get to half guard.
Fire working Maestre over with strikes. Fire trying to control the pace. Fire seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
That's one minute gone in the round. Maestre is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Fire pulls his head out easily. Fire drops an elbow to the side of Maestre's head. Fire takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Fire trying to control the pace. Maestre looking for submissions off his back. Maestre looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Fire slips a nice elbow through Maestre's hands, connecting with Maestre's forehead. Fire landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Fire is controlling the pace.
Maestre looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Maestre looking for submissions off his back. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Fire in particular looking to stall.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Maestre is not content to let Fire control the position. Maestre is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Fire pulls his head out easily. Maestre is working on a guillotine. He's managed to get to full guard and he's really squeezing tight! Fire is tapping! Great win for Maestre!
