The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Johnson moves into the clinch.

Poirier tries to clinch up but Johnson circles away and keeps his distance.

Johnson is trying to force a seperation but Poirier has the dominant position.

Johnson manages to break the clinch.
Johnson throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Poirier.

Johnson darts in and clinches Poirier up against the cage.

Johnson breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Johnson rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Poirier moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Poirier fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Johnson to the ground. Poirier is now in Johnson's guard.

Johnson is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.

Poirier has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for Johnson! Can he survive? No! He's out! Poirier gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.
