Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Theo Trivette (ranked 2205 p4p, 3653 weight class) and Curtis Rome (ranked 244 p4p, 399 weight class). Theo Trivette has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Theo Trivette!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Curtis Rome!
The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Colin Fray and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Trivette throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Trivette fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Rome manages to avoid it.
Trivette tries to clinch up but Rome circles away and keeps his distance.
Trivette thuds a left hand into Rome's body.

Rome shoots in and bounces Trivette off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Rome wants to control from the top but Trivette keeps moving.
Trivette seems keen to control Rome's posture.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Trivette is looking to stand up but Rome isn't so interested in that idea.
Trivette throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Trivette looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

Rome wants to pass the guard but Trivette is keeping the position.

It looks like Rome might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Rome is continuing to stall.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Rome trying to control from half guard but Trivette is working away.
Rome wants to pass to mount but Trivette is defending the position.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Trivette connects with a single shot there.
Rome needs to keep his hands up - Trivette had a free shot at his head there.

Trivette wants to clinch up but Rome keeps it at a distance.

Rome feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Trivette, as that shot connected.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Rome throws a big shot that misses.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Rome throws a looping overhand right but Trivette ducks down to avoid it.

Trivette was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.

Trivette clinches up with Rome and pushes him back against the cage.
Rome is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Trivette pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Rome tries to throw a body punch but Trivette avoids it by throwing Rome back against the cage.

Trivette is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Rome can do to turn this around?

Rome breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Rome shoots in and drives through. Trivette sprawls well.

Rome shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Rome lands with a straight right. Trivette didn't see that one coming.

Trivette darts in and clinches Rome up against the cage.
Rome doesn't land with the attempted body shot.

Trivette is fighting off a takedown attempt but Rome is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Trivette to the mat. Trivette regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Rome wants to control from the top but Trivette keeps moving.
Rome seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Rome stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Trivette swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Trivette pulls Rome in close to prevent any damage.
Rome controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Trivette is looking to stand up but Rome isn't so interested in that idea.
Rome is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Trivette throws a predictable looking body shot

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Trivette steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Rome.
Trivette looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Rome shoots in for a takedown but Trivette shows good takedown defense.
Trivette walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Trivette cracks Rome with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Trivette, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
