Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between David King (ranked 365 p4p, 875 weight class) and Willy Mataitai (ranked 58 p4p, 130 weight class). King comes to the cage accompanied by Manchester United Chants George Best Song Spirit In The Sky. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Willy Mataitai!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Daniel Bishop and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice defenses there by Mataitai.
Mataitai throws a lazy right hand but King sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
A telegraphed right hand from King misses the target.
King throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Mataitai looks to land a right hand but King moved out of range.
Mataitai connects with a body shot.
King lands a glancing blow to the side of Mataitai's head.
Mataitai throws a sloppy body shot
letting King counter with a right hand.
King looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
A telegraphed right hand from Mataitai misses the target.
King scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Mataitai doesn't seem bothered though.
King takes a swing at Mataitai's ribcage but misses.

and King cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

It looks like Willy Mataitai has been cut.
Mataitai avoids the body shot from King.
Mataitai tries to counter by closing the distance.
King cracks Mataitai with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

and Mataitai counters with a one-two to the body.
Mataitai uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by King.
King rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Mataitai counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps King thinking.

Mataitai throws a hook but King blocks it.
King misses with a hook.
Mataitai throws a series of punches but King moves out of range.
King swings and misses with a hook to the body.
David King seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
King swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Mataitai ducks down and throws a hook to the body but King moves away.
King tests Mataitai's chin there with a solid looking shot.
King pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
King throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
King takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

It looks like David King has been cut.
Mataitai drops his hands momentarily and King takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Mataitai throws an overhand right that lands on King's shoulder, as King tries to avoid the shot.
King stuns Mataitai with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
King avoids the body shot from Mataitai.

King on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Mataitai wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Mataitai misses with a looping right.
Mataitai throws a body punch but King moves out of range.

and King counters with a left to the body.
King throws a left and a right that both miss
and Mataitai counters with a lovely straight right hand!

King looks to score with a jab to the body but Mataitai is just out of range.
King misses with a telegraphed body shot

and Mataitai moves into the clinch.
Mataitai misses with a punch on the inside.
King blocks a punch to the side of the head.

King breaks from the clinch.

and Mataitai cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

King swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Mataitai shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

King swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Mataitai counters with a nice uppercut.
Oh King is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Mataitai scores with a shot to the body.
King is breathing heavily.
Mataitai lunges in with a left hook that violently twists King head around and knocks him out cold! Mataitai hops onto the cage and yells out at the top of his lungs - Yeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaah! They're showing the replay on the big screens now; that was nasty! I hope one of the photographers got a good shot of it.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:17 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Willy Mataitai!
Willy Mataitai is the new light heavyweight champion!
Willy Mataitai gave a mention to Brooklyn Apothecary in his post fight interview. That will please them (and hopefully generate some sales).
David King was interviewed post fight and said 'Goin' t'pub afterwards, have a few pints & move on to the next chapter. I couldn't be mithered with it all anyway, you know what I mean? Can't be arsed'.
