The bell rings for round one and we are underway! O'Neil dodges the punch combination from Smith.
O'Neil has been working on his boxing with his coaches at The Dojo in the buildup to the fight. Smith misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
As Smith tries to get set, O'Neil tries to push him back and clinch up but Smith manages to avoid the attempt. Smith misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from O'Neil.
O'Neil lands with an overhand left. Smith throws a shot to the body.
Smith throws a low kick but O'Neil moves out of range easily. O'Neil is looking to counter punch. O'Neil fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Smith. O'Neil connects with a right hand. Smith shakes it off. O'Neil doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. O'Neil swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Smith throws a jab when O'Neil was well out of range. O'Neil has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from O'Neil there as he acknowledges the shot. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. O'Neil works Smith's body with a nice hook. Smith tries to bum rush O'Neil with a series of wild strikes but O'Neil uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
That's one minute gone in the round. Smith looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple. O'Neil lands the left hand. Smith looking to land some kicks to the body here.
O'Neil throws a jab but it's blocked by Smith. Smith on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those. Smith fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but O'Neil is out of range. A quick step to the side and O'Neil tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect. O'Neil throws a looping overhand right but Smith ducks down to avoid it. Bryant Smith seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Smith ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. A jab from O'Neil does it's job there. A looping hook to the body misses from Smith. O'Neil does a little dance to reset his feet. O'Neil misses with a hook. Smith misses with a lunging right hand
and O'Neil counters with a lovely straight right hand! Smith misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from O'Neil.
Nice uppercut lands for O'Neil. That snapped Smith's head back.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Smith throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
O'Neil throwing a counter right hand but Smith manages to avoid it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. O'Neil lands with a thumping leg kick.
O'Neil throws a jab but it's blocked by Smith. Smith throws a counter combo. Smith throws a nice inside leg kick. Nice jab there from O'Neil. O'Neil cracks Smith with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Smith tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but O'Neil pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Smith is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!
