Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Eder Silva (ranked 2355 p4p, 2242 weight class) and Steve Cho (ranked 259 p4p, 247 weight class). Eder Silva has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Eder Silva! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 7 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Steve Cho! The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Roger Salmon and Josh West.

Cho throws a right hand that Silva ducks under and follows up with a left that Silva also avoids with ease. Silva throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Cho's waist but Cho gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Silva off to one side.
Silva bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Silva working the ground and pound but Cho is defending the strikes.
Silva wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Cho, who protects the arm well. Silva happy to just control the position for now. Silva seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Cho for as long as he can get away with. Silva will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Silva with the ground and pound but Cho regains half guard under the barage of strikes.

Cho told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet. Cho avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Silva.
Silva is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Cho has managed to free his arm - good work. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Silva is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Cho reverses the position - he's now on top in Silva's guard. Cho stops Silva from standing up. Silva is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Silva is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Cho dives into side control.

Cho stands up and beckons Silva to his feet. Silva shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Cho sprawls well. Cho wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Silva gets slowly back to his feet. Silva shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Cho as he avoids it easily. Cho throws a counter combo. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Eder Silva. That's going to take a lot out of him. Silva goes for a double leg but Cho avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Cho continues to drive forward. Cho unleashes a big counter combination but Silva bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.

Silva is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Cho is defending well.

Silva shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Cho as he jumps to the side.
Silva closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Silva lands in his opponent's guard. Silva looking to pass the guard. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Silva works a leg free and moves into half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Silva trying to pass the guard but Cho defending well. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Steve Cho dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Cho can't do much from the bottom here. Silva in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Cho can do anything to dispel that myth. Cho can't do much from the bottom here. Cho is not content to let Silva control the position.

You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Silva is looking to take a break and control but Cho is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Cho regains half guard there - taking advantage of Silva's attempt to lay and pray for a moment. Silva wants to take a breather but Cho is having none of it. Cho is trying to stand.
Silva thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Cho's head. Cho trying to control here.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Cho tries to kick Silva off but Silva keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Silva tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Cho defends well and Silva ends up having to push Cho into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Cho prevents a takedown attempt there.

Silva pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Cho tumbling to the mat - Silva dives into Cho's guard. Silva trying to control the position from guard on top but Cho is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Eder Silva dominated that second round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Silva is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Cho is just riding it out for now. Silva eventually gives up the hold. Silva is trying to control. Cho wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Silva is looking for a kimura but Cho is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Silva to get the leverage. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Cho is looking to escape. Silva is looking to advance position but Cho won't allow it. Silva is trying to control the action in half guard but Cho is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

A little jabbing left from Cho on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. Silva on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere. Cho stuffs the takedown. Silva misses with a takedown attempt - Cho sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Cho let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land. Silva smiles back at him and beckons him forward. Cho fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Silva. Cho looks like he wanted to counter with a high kick but didn't throw it. Cho scores with a sloppy right hand. Silva should have avoided that one. Silva fails with a takedown attempt. Cho looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Cho cracks Silva with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Cho has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Silva to stand back up!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! and Cho counters with a massive uppercut that badly hurts Silva! He's just covering up as Cho starts to tee off till the referee steps in and stops the fight!

Our winner, Steve Cho, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
