PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kurt Amos (ranked 3050 p4p, 3006 weight class) and Freddy Jackson (ranked 391 p4p, 384 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Kurt Amos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Freddy Jackson!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Seu Braga and Mauricio Rocha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Amos throws a right hand that Jackson ducks under and follows up with a left that Jackson also avoids with ease.

Jackson rushes Amos and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Jackson breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Jackson feints and as Amos raises his hands in defense, Jackson changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Jackson won't allow Amos to sweep him here.
Amos keeping moving, preventing Jackson from controlling successfully.
Jackson slips nicely into half guard.

Jackson is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Amos wants to improve his position but Jackson is controlling well.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jackson trying to control from half guard but Amos is working away.
Amos is trying to get back to full guard.

Jackson is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Amos is just riding it out for now. Jackson eventually gives up the hold.
Jackson is keen to just control but Amos is a slippery customer.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Jackson uses his free foot to push down on Amos's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Amos.
Jackson lands a big elbow.
Jackson avoids the attempt from Amos to control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jackson has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Amos's face.
Amos is working to get back to half guard.
Amos tries to hold on but Jackson postures up.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Jackson stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.

Jackson scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Who's going to make the next move?
You can see the frustration on Amos's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Amos tries to buck Jackson off but Jackson is having none of it.
Jackson throws an elbow but Amos slips to the side and avoids it well.

Jackson decides to stand back up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Amos gets the takedown into side control.
Amos in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.

Amos is trying to get an arm triangle but Jackson is defending well.

Amos wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Jackson, who protects the arm well.
Jackson prevents Amos from moving into mount.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Amos working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Jackson is trying to control Amos's posture but Amos avoids it.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Freddy Jackson dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

Amos misses with a body kick.
Jackson lands a nice leg kick that just misses Amos's sensitive parts.
Amos leaves Jackson with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Amos quickly followed up with a counter body kick but doesn't connect.
Amos tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Jackson paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Amos closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Amos lands in his opponent's guard.
Amos prevents Jackson from getting back to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jackson has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Amos has passed into side control.
Amos tries to advance to mount but Jackson denies him.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Amos decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Amos shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Amos is thwarting Jackson's attempts to control the position.
Jackson moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Amos landing with the ground and pound.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Amos passes Jackson's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Amos lands with a punch from half guard.
Jackson trying to control from the bottom.
Jackson is looking to escape.
Jackson wants to get back to full guard.

Jackson actively working from the bottom here.
Amos is trying to control. Jackson wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Jackson controlling the leg, holding on to half guard.

Amos seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Jackson has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for Amos. Oh but Jackson has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! Amos goes limp - he's gone! Jackson jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!
