PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tzu Chu (ranked 3347 p4p, 2930 weight class) and Oshan Jackson (ranked 104 p4p, 87 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tzu Chu!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Oshan Jackson!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Bruno Lombardi and Lou da Vinci.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chu steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Jackson. That one must have hurt.
Chu connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Chu connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Chu lands a jab to Jackson's midsection.
Jackson connects with a leg kick.
Jackson's coach down at Punch Out Gym was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Jackson's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Chu tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Jackson was well out of range. Poor timing from Chu.
Chu throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Jackson stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

and Chu counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Jackson stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Jackson wants it to stay on the feet.
Jackson throws a series of punches but Chu moves out of range.
Chu checks a leg kick.
Jackson throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Jackson thuds a left hand into Chu's body.
Chu has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Jackson throws a looping overhand right but Chu ducks down to avoid it.
Chu was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
Jackson digs a good hook to Chu's body.
Jackson gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Chu.
Chu uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Jackson.
Chu lands with a straight right. Jackson didn't see that one coming.
Jackson throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Chu throws a body shot but no joy.
Jackson throws a shot from downtown. Chu moves away and avoids it.
A combination from Chu does no damage.
Chu jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Jackson throws a big shot that misses.
Chu throws a left and a right that both miss
and Jackson counters with a straight right hand.
Jackson moves out of range of the strikes.
Jackson misses with a double jab.
Chu lands with a slapping head kick.
Chu is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Jackson lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Chu looks to land a combination. Jackson sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Jackson stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!

Chu has Jackson up against the cage in a clinch.
Chu misses with a body punch.
Chu lands with a short head shot on the inside.

Chu works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.

Jackson is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Jackson pulls Chu in close to his closed guard and prevents Chu from doing any damage or advancing position.
Chu lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Jackson is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Jackson's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Jackson looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jackson wants to control but Chu passes easily into half guard.
Chu is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Chu not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Jackson is trying to get back to full guard.
Chu has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Jackson preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Jackson is looking to control Chu's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Jackson avoid being mounted?

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Jackson gets back to full guard.
Jackson looking to hit a scissor sweep but Chu is one step ahead there.
Jackson pulls Chu in close to his closed guard and prevents Chu from doing any damage or advancing position.
More stalling from Jackson.
Jackson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Chu lands a jab.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Tzu Chu dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

Chu is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Jackson can do to turn this around?
Chu throws a head punch that misses.

Jackson drags the fight down to the ground.
Jackson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jackson has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Chu is really struggling to control Jackson but he's trying to hold on to the position.

Jackson has his foot on Chu's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Chu works his way back into a safe position though.

Chu is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Chu goes for a double leg but Jackson avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Jackson continues to drive forward.

It looks like Oshan Jackson has been cut.
Jackson unloads a knee to the mid-section.
Jackson is trying to maintain a safe position but Chu gets an underhook and turns Jackson into the cage.
Chu throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Jacksons head.
Jackson avoids a wild elbow strike from Chu.

Chu has hold of one of Jackson's legs. Jackson is fighting the takedown attempt but Chu gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Let's hope that Jackson has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. And we move into the final round!

Jackson uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Chu.
Chu looks for a takedown but Jackson sprawls well.
No joy there for Chu, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Chu pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Jackson back to the cage. Chu follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.

Well Chu has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
