Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Groundskeeper Willie (ranked 993 p4p, 1877 weight class) and Guy Leblond (ranked 113 p4p, 199 weight class). Guy Leblond has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Groundskeeper Willie! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Guy Leblond! The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Arvi Lind and Roosa Järviläinen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Leblond wants to clinch but Willie slips to the side and Willie counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Willie slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Leblond fails with the takedown and Willie counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. We've been told by Willie's head coaches at London MMA Club that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Crunch! Leblond slams his shin into Willie's torso. Leblond thows a leg kick but Willie checks it letting Willie counter with a right hand. Leblond misses with a takedown and Willie counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Leblond darts in trying to clinch enabling Willie to counter with a crisp jab.
That's one minute gone in the round. Leblond takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. Leblond drives through with a takedown into Willie's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Leblond trying to control the position from guard on top but Willie is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Leblond's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Willie has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Leblond can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Leblond controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Leblond got a little sloppy there for a moment and Willie has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Leblond has managed to get both his arms back between Willie's legs - danger averted.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Leblond is looking to work some ground and pound but Willie has wrist control. Leblond chips away with some ground and pound. Leblond landing some decent shots from guard. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Leblond's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Leblond throws a big elbow that misses. Willie has an active guard here but Leblond has managed to pass into half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Willie trying to hold on to Leblond's head to control him but Leblond postures up.
Leblond working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Leblond is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Leblond working the head and body with strikes. My spies in Hey Steves Fight Shack inform me that Leblond has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends! Leblond looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Willie taking some punishment here, with Leblond in his half guard.

Willie is rocked! Willie wants to get back to his feet. Oh Willie is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Leblond working over Willie with some ground and pound. Willie looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Willie has guillotine here! It looks pretty tight! Could this be all over! No, Leblond escapes and passes into side control at the same time. Nice work there by Leblond! Leblond working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Willie seems to have got his legs back now. Leblond working the ground and pound. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Guy Leblond dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Leblond closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Willie quickly recovers to half guard. Leblond looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Willie avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Leblond. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Leblond lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Willie wants to control but Leblond is keeping busy.

The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Willie with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Willie looking for submissions off his back. Leblond landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Leblond working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Leblond is taking a breather. Willie says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Leblond is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Willie wants to get back to his feet.
Leblond scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Willie is looking to regain full guard. He's left an arm up in the air though and Leblond has latched onto it... Big trouble! Leblond pivots for an armbar - it's in tight and it Willie is tapping in no time flat! Great counter grappling there from Leblond!
