Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Uriah Chin (ranked 1366 p4p, 2250 weight class) and Bernhard River (ranked 76 p4p, 116 weight class). River has chosen Metallica: Enter Sandman as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Uriah Chin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bernhard River!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Yuuki Gou and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Chin darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Chin is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and River defends it well.
River is refusing to be controlled, as Chin sits in half guard.
River is trying to maintain the position but Chin is very close to passing his half guard.
Chin is trying to control the action in half guard but River is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
River is controlling Chin's position as best he can from this difficult position.
River is not content to let Chin control the position.
River is looking for a sweep. Chin is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Chin is just content to waste time from the top position. River takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

Chin stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. River swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Chin sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed River's guard.
River wants to get back to full guard.

Chin is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, River has managed to free his arm - good work.
River trying to control from the bottom.

River looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
River won't allow Chin to pass to mount.
Chin is trying to control. River wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Chin is really struggling to control River but he's trying to hold on to the position.

River wants to control but Chin is keeping busy and won't allow it.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
River throws a looping overhand right but Chin ducks down to avoid it.

River swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Chin fails with an attempt to clinch.
Chin swings for the body but River moves out of range.

Chin gets cracked there but stands up to it.
River thuds his shin into the meat of Chin's side.

Chin instigates a clinch.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Chin tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.

River breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
River tries to score with a low kick but Chin moves his leg out of the way.

A momentary lapse in concentration from River enables Chin to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. River manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Chin passes River's left leg - he's now in half guard.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Uriah Chin will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Chin appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick.

and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
River lands with a good body shot.

and River counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

The fight stays on the outside here - Chin looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
River lands with a good body shot.

and River counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Oh Chin is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
River fakes the leg kick and cracks Chin in the body.
Chin wants to clinch up but River keeps it at a distance.
River dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Chin. That did some damage!
Chin seems to have got his legs back now.

Chin looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Chin throws a right hand that River ducks under and follows up with a left that River also avoids with ease.
It seemed like River was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
River throws a sloppy head kick and Chin moves out of range easily.

Chin fakes high and swings low for a body shot but River manages to avoid it.
River shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.

Chin lunges at River with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by River's hand.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Bernhard River seems to be getting the better of the standup.
River misses with a series of wild punches.
Chin tries to counter by moving into the clinch but River manages to circle out of the way.

Bernhard River showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

River has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
