Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Trevor Barnes (ranked 1532 p4p, 24058 weight class) and Ryo Hazuki (ranked 188 p4p, 695 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 5 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Trevor Barnes! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ryo Hazuki! The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Ben Watson and Bruno Hogan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Barnes stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Barnes wants it to stay on the feet. Barnes on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere. Barnes has Hazuki up against the cage in a clinch.
A bit of stalling here from Barnes.
Hazuki wants a takedown.
Barnes misses with some punches.
Hazuki escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Hazuki shoots in but Barnes avoids the takedown attempt easily. Trevor Barnes has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ryo Hazuki. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Barnes swinging wildly here.
Hazuki changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Barnes looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
That's one minute gone in the round. Barnes is trying to improve his position. Barnes manages to work his way to half guard, despite Hazuki's best efforts. Hazuki is looking for a kimura here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Hazuki is working for a kimura but Barnes is defending it quite comfortably.

Barnes on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Barnes tries to get out of the position. Barnes trying to hold on to Hazuki's head to control him but Hazuki postures up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Barnes won't allow Hazuki to pass to mount. Hazuki is working for a submission of some sort.
Hazuki looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Hazuki passes to full mount! Barnes wants to hold on but Hazuki pushes him away. Hazuki wants to get back to his feet but Barnes is holding on tight.
Barnes is desperately trying to improve his position but Hazuki has a good base and remains in mount. Barnes holds on, trying desperately to control. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Barnes working to try and regain half guard.
Hazuki trying to control but Barnes is having none of it. Barnes tries to get back to half guard but can't.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hazuki trying to control but Barnes is having none of it. Hazuki is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. Hazuki with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Barnes is squirming around, avoiding Hazuki's attempts to control the action. Hazuki is trying to stand up but he's being controlled by his opponent. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Hazuki prevents Barnes from getting the reversal. Hazuki is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Barnes is surviving well by controlling Hazuki's body position as best he can. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Ryo Hazuki dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Hazuki dives in and grabs Barnes's left leg, looking for a takedown. Barnes pushes down on Hazuki's head and hops out. Hazuki darts in looking for a takedown but Barnes gets double underhooks and turns Hazuki into the cage. Hazuki tries to close the distance and clinch but Barnes swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Barnes connects with a jab. Barnes misses with a looping right. Barnes pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Barnes ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Hazuki moves away. Hazuki is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hazuki with a poor takedown and Barnes makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick. Trevor Barnes has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ryo Hazuki. Hazuki tries to keep at a distance but Barnes has taken the fight into the clinch. Barnes's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
That's one minute gone in the round. Hazuki pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Hazuki checks a leg kick. Hazuki is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. Barnes pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Hazuki fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Hazuki has tried to improve his agility in the runup to this fight. Barnes swings away with a leg kick that misses. Hazuki shoots in but no luck this time. Hazuki needs to keep his hands up - Barnes had a free shot at his head there. Hazuki with a poor takedown letting Barnes counter with a right hand. Barnes lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Barnes misses with an attempted mid kick.
Barnes rushes Hazuki and presses him up against the cage. Hazuki's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button! Hazuki blocking some punches.
Barnes is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Hazuki can do to turn this around? A nice left hand lands by Barnes.
Hazuki gets a nice trip takedown into half guard. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Hazuki content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Barnes works his way to full guard. Good work. Barnes wants to sweep but no luck. Hazuki slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Hazuki decides to stand back up. Hazuki steps back and let's Barnes get back to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A nice combination there by Barnes.
Hazuki darts in looking for a takedown but Barnes gets double underhooks and turns Hazuki into the cage. Barnes rushes Hazuki and presses him up against the cage. Barnes stalling.
Hazuki has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Barnes is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Barnes has Hazuki pressed against the cage, preventing Hazuki from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Hazuki pulls guard successfully.
Hazuki had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Barnes defends it easily. Hazuki keeping moving, preventing Barnes from controlling successfully. Hazuki escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Barnes gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Barnes stands over his opponent and dives in with a flying punch! Hazuki throws up his legs and catches Barnes in a triangle! Oh this looks tight! Barnes tries to escape but he's forced to tap! Wow, fantastic work there by Hazuki! That came out of nowhere!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:27 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Ryo Hazuki!
