PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Donnie Larkin (ranked 225 p4p, 455 weight class) and Athos Knox (ranked 30 p4p, 65 weight class). Knox has chosen Click Click Boom | Saliva as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Athos Knox told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

With a record of 14 - 8 - 0, fighting out of London, Athos Knox!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Alexandre Firmino and Luis Engracia.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Larkin misses with a body kick.
Larkin throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Knox moves away from the strike by Larkin.
Knox ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Larkin on the wrong end of a nice hook.

It looks like Donnie Larkin has been cut.
Larkin avoids the body shot from Knox.
Larkin jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Knox jabs Larkin to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Larkin throws a head kick but Knox moves out of range.
Larkin feints and then cracks Knox's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Knox down.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Knox is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.

Donnie Larkin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A jab from Knox finds it's way through Larkin's defenses.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Knox misses with an uppercut. Larkin saw that one coming.

Knox uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Larkin.
Larkin keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Knox.
Larkin looks to score with a jab to the body but Knox is just out of range.
Larkin defending well as Knox loads up on a big left hand.

Knox scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Larkin ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Knox moves away.
Larkin looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Knox is fending him off so far but Larkin persists. Nope, Knox circles away and we're back to standing.

Donnie Larkin's cut is getting worse.
Knox takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Larkin drops his hands momentarily and Knox takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Larkin is rocked!
Larkin takes a swing at Knox's ribcage but misses.
Larkin takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Oh Larkin is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Knox is looking for an opening here. He's unloaded a big left hand that catches Larkin flush on the jaw and sends him tumbling to the canvas! Larkin is out cold! Knox holds back from landing any unnecessary shots to his unconscious opponent, as the referee reacts slowly to the situation. A brutal knockout and then some excellent sportsmanship - this guy is my new favorite fighter!
