Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jake Silva (ranked 1621 p4p, 1767 weight class) and Thomas Evans (ranked 246 p4p, 267 weight class). Jake Silva had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jake Silva!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Thomas Evans!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Matheus Silva and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Evans rushes Silva and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Evans putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Silva in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body.
Evans jumps guard but Silva stands there with Evans around his waist. Evans gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Evans jumps guard and drags Silva to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Evans is looking to stand back up but Silva counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Evans.

Silva avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Evans is trying to control the position but Silva postures up.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Silva controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Evans is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Silva is controlling him well.

Silva decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Evans goes for a double leg but Silva avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Silva continues to drive forward.

Silva shoots in and bounces Evans off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Silva's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Silva wants to pass the guard but Evans is keeping the position.
Evans is trying to keep Silva in close.
Evans can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Silva controls the pace.

Evans has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Silva is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Evans.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Silva manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Evans manages to get himself to full guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Evans shoots in looking for a takedown but Silva manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Evans's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Silva pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Evans bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Silva's head.

Evans wants the takedown. Silva is fighting it off but Evans persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Silva's guard against the cage.

Silva throws a looping overhand right but Evans ducks down to avoid it.

Evans moves in looking to clinch but Silva pushes him off.
Silva changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Evans shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Silva eats them both and turns towards Evans to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

Evans dives in for a single leg takedown but Silva sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Evans is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.
