Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Steve Burns (ranked 2184 p4p, 2820 weight class) and Danny Brooks (ranked 268 p4p, 333 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Steve Burns! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Danny Brooks! The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Mauricio Rocha and Thiago Cunha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Brooks throws a leg kick and Burns counters with a takedown into side control. Brooks tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Burns wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Burns is chipping away with strikes.
Burns throwing strikes but missing, from side control. Burns trying to control the position but Brooks is working away. Burns is putting a hurting on Brooks here, landing some big shots from side control. Burns scoring with punches from side control. Brooks tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Burns wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Burns is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Brooks's shoulder. That is not cool. Burns is looking to take a break and control but Brooks is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Burns lands a decent elbow from side control.

The referee asks Burns politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Burns prefers to stall for the moment though. Brooks sneaks back into half guard. Burns prevents Brooks from standing back up.
Brooks desperately trying to maintain half guard. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Burns lands a nice short elbow.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Burns not doing much here.
Burns is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Brooks doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Burns. Burns is controlling the pace.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Brooks looking for submissions off his back. Burns scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Burns moves nicely into side control. Burns looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Burns controls the position from side control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Burns decides to stand back up. Brooks fails in his attempt to clinch. Brooks slaps away a takedown attempt from Burns, before circling back to the center of the mat. Burns darts in and clinches Brooks up against the cage. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Burns manages to break the clinch.
Brooks tries to close the distance and clinch up but Burns swats him away and circles back towards the center. Burns has closed the distance and engaged Brooks in a clinch.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Steve Burns dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Burns throws a sloppy head kick and Brooks counters with a three punch combo that has Burns backing up. Burns nods at Brooks to acknowledge the strikes. Brooks looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Burns is fending him off so far but Brooks persists. Nope, Burns circles away and we're back to standing. Burns dives in for a single leg takedown but Brooks sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Burns tries for a takedown. No joy.
Burns has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Brooks uses from the top position. Burns trying to control the position.
Burns is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Brooks defends well. Brooks postures up in Burns's guard and throws a big left but Burns blocks it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Brooks decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Burns, up you get!
That's one minute gone in the round. Burns moves into the clinch. Burns being controlled against the cage. Brooks avoiding damage as Burns throws knees to the body.
Brooks looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Burns is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Brooks can do to turn this around? Brooks has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Burns after a bit of a struggle. Brooks working hard to break the clinch. Burns breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Burns gets tackled into the cage by Brooks. Brooks maintains the clinch. Burns has Brooks pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Burns pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Brooks tumbling to the mat - Burns dives into Brooks's guard. Brooks is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Brooks is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Burns trying to control the position from guard on top but Brooks is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Brooks looking for a guillotine here but Burns defends easily.
Burns is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Burns with a nice head shot there.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Brooks throwing short punches from the bottom. Burns is working Brooks over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Brooks is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Burns wants to pass the guard but Brooks is keeping the position. Brooks controls Burns momentarily but Burns frees himself. Burns wants to control from the top but Brooks keeps moving.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Brooks wants to get back to his feet but Burns is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Nice shot by Brooks. Steve Burns is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Burns tries for a takedown but Brooks sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Steve Burns. That's going to take a lot out of him. Burns displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Brooks. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Burns closes the distance and clinches up with Brooks, looking for a takedown. Burns pushes Brooks against the cage but Brooks circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Brooks circles away from the clinch attempt.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Burns stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Burns wants it to stay on the feet. A punch lands to the side of Brooks 's head but he takes it in his stride. Brooks throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Burns's head. Brooks dives in and grabs Burns's left leg, looking for a takedown. Burns pushes down on Brooks's head and hops out. Brooks tries to clinch but Burns moves out of range. Brooks slaps away a takedown attempt from Burns, before circling back to the center of the mat. Burns fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A leg kick checked by Burns. Burns stuffs the takedown. Steve Burns has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Danny Brooks. Burns shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Brooks manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Brooks is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Burns presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Brooks avoids a wild elbow strike from Burns. Brooks is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Burns gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Brooks taking a breather. Burns escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

No luck with that takedown attempt from Brooks. Burns tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Brooks manages to circle out of the way.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Brooks fails with a takedown attempt. Burns was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit. Burns looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Burns avoids the head kick by Brooks.
Burns wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch. Burns throws a nice looking combination but Brooks bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Brooks looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it. Brooks throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. A punch combination from Brooks misses. Burns is looking for a counter combo. Burns lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. Burns gets in close and instigates a clinch.
That's four minutes gone in the round. With the two fighters working up against the cage, Burns just misses with a elbow thrown towards Brooks's brow. Burns successfully pulls guard.
Brooks throwing strikes from guard but Burns blocks nicely. Burns avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Brooks passes into half guard under a barage of strikes. Burns slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Brooks trying to control the position from guard on top but Burns is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
And that's the end of the fight! Steve Burns showed his dominance in that final round. I think Burns has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
