PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ethan Hawk (ranked 210 p4p, 1498 weight class) and Wilhelm Bar (ranked 30 p4p, 220 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ethan Hawk!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Wilhelm Bar!
The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Nard Betker and Patrick Alders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bar looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Hawk throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Hawk lands a slapping body shot.
A slapping leg kick lands for Hawk.
Hawk scores with a sloppy right hand. Bar should have avoided that one.
Bar on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Bar blocks a jab.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bar ducks under a wild hook from Hawk.
Hawk misses with a body shot

and Bar counters with a single leg into guard. Hawk didn't expect that.
Bar throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Hawk works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Bar accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Bar working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Hawk's head.
Bar pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Hawk is keeping the position for now.

Bar wants to work for an arm triangle but Hawk is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Hawk is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at CT, so we'll see if he gets out of it.

Bar is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Hawk is just riding it out for now. Bar eventually gives up the hold.

Bar thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Hawk's head.
Bar missing with the ground and pound from half guard.

Bar is working for a kimura but Hawk is defending it quite comfortably.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bar trying to mount his opponent but Hawk defends it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Bar passes the guard and advances to mount!

Bar goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Hawk turns into him and now he's in Bar's guard.

Bar wants to hit a sweep here but Hawk passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Bar there!
Bar bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Bar throws a big right hand that misses.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Bar is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Hawk has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Bar is looking to defend but Hawk has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Bar! Hawk pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Bar taps out and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Ethan Hawk!
