Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Shigeru Uchida (ranked 1339 p4p, 2275 weight class) and Maury Travis (ranked 179 p4p, 281 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Shigeru Uchida!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Maury Travis!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, James Ackerman and Chris Edwards.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Travis throws a right hand that misses
and Uchida counters with a flying knee. Nice.
Travis cracks Uchida with a good jab.
Uchida throws a head kick that misses
and Travis cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Travis lands a head shot.
Travis scores with the left hand. Uchida knows he should have avoided that one.
Uchida on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
A slow jab from Travis misses its intended target.
The fighters circling - Travis throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Travis connects with the punch.
Uchida is rocked!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Travis fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Uchida looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Travis misses with a left hand
and Uchida counters with a big head kick but Travis shrugs it off.

Travis throws a shot from downtown. Uchida moves away and avoids it.
Uchida ducks under a wild hook from Travis.
Uchida is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Travis cracks Uchida with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Uchida uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Travis.
Uchida throws a sloppy head kick and Travis moves out of range easily.
Travis throws a hook but Uchida blocks it.
Travis is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Uchida had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into mush.
Sloppy strikes from Travis. Those never looked like landing.
Travis throws an off balance right hand
and Uchida counters with a head kick. That will keep Travis thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
Travis misses with a looping right.
Uchida is looking to counter with head kicks.
Uchida moves out of range as Travis strikes.

Travis looks to land a left hand but Uchida moved out of range nicely.
Travis throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Uchida on the side of the head.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Uchida uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Travis.
It appears Uchida was looking to counter with a kick there.
Maury Travis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Travis ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Uchida keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Travis.
Travis misses with an uppercut
and Uchida counters with a lovely straight right hand!

and Uchida counters with a body kick that stops Travis in his tracks momentarily.
Travis throws a poor cross that misses
and Uchida counters with a stiff right hand.
Travis swings widly with a right hand
and Uchida counters with a nice kick to the body.

Uchida has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Uchida there as he acknowledges the shot.
Travis looks to score with a jab to the body but Uchida is just out of range.
Travis drops his hands momentarily and Uchida needs no second invitation. He sets himself and throws a perfect high kick, that clips Travis just on the top of the head. Travis drops like a sack of potatoes to the canvas, out cold! Oooooooh yeah! Stick a fork in Travis - he's done!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:23 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Shigeru Uchida!
Shigeru Uchida opened up his post fight interview with a scream to camera that he wants a title shot! Whether he deserves the shot will be up to the management of the organization, so I guess he'll have to wait and see.
