Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gus Tarbols (ranked 6196 p4p, 5292 weight class) and Scully Peterson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tarbols has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. The key to victory for Gus Tarbols has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Gus Tarbols! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Scully Peterson! The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Chris Saunders and Jeff Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Peterson drives through and clinches with Tarbols against the cage.
Peterson's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. A head kick misses from Peterson. Peterson gets the takedown into side control. Peterson scoring with punches from side control. Tarbols is breathing heavily. Peterson is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Tarbols knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Tarbols is looking for a sweep. Tarbols is trying to control Peterson's posture but Peterson avoids it. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Peterson wants to stand but Tarbols has his arm trapped.
That's one minute gone in the round. Tarbols being controlled for a moment. Peterson working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Peterson has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Peterson is staying tight to Tarbols's torso, preventing him from escaping.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Peterson scoring with punches from side control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Peterson tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Peterson has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Peterson is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Tarbols knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Peterson controls the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Peterson decides to take the fight back to the feet. Peterson closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Tarbols did well to prevent Peterson getting side control. Peterson takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Peterson is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount! Peterson content just to control the position here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Peterson lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Tarbols hang on? Peterson takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Peterson is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Tarbols can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Tarbols can't escape the position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Peterson tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Peterson postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Tarbols looks a forlorn figure.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Scully Peterson dominated that round. That's time! Tarbols's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
The fight moves into the clinch position. Peterson is trying to drag Tarbols to the mat but Tarbols just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Tarbols goes for a takedown in the clinch but Peterson prevents it.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Peterson closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Tarbols's guard. Peterson sitting in guard, not really doing much. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Peterson wants to stand but Tarbols is controlling his posture from full guard. Peterson with a nice head shot there. Peterson working some strikes from top position. Peterson with a nice head shot there. Peterson has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Tarbols is proving hard to escape from.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Peterson slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Peterson postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Peterson landing some decent shots from guard. Peterson is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Tarbols is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Peterson is pushing down on Tarbols's leg trying to pass to half guard. Tarbols is fighting to maintain full guard but Peterson has managed to sneak the leg through.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Tarbols on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Peterson trying to control the pace. Tarbols taking some punishment here, with Peterson in his half guard. Peterson perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Peterson misses with a few strikes there.
Peterson scores with a takedown into Tarbols's guard. Peterson chips away with some ground and pound. Peterson scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Peterson engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Peterson's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Peterson distracts Tarbols with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Scully Peterson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round! Tarbols pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Peterson throws a leg kick but Tarbols checks it. Peterson dives in for a single leg takedown but Tarbols sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Peterson fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Tarbols sprawls well initially but Peterson persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Peterson wants to stand up but Tarbols has a hold of him and won't allow it. Tarbols is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Peterson scores with a couple of nice shots. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Peterson slows the pace down in half guard. Peterson wants to pass to mount but Tarbols is defending the position. Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Peterson is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Peterson working the head and body with strikes. Peterson is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Tarbols! Scully Peterson has got the better of the ground game so far.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Peterson lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Tarbols is rocked! Peterson working for a guillotine from mount but Tarbols is in no mood to give up. Oh Tarbols is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Peterson connects with a bit shot that sees Tarbols covering up! More strikes from Peterson and the referee jumps in to stop the fight! Peterson is our winner by TKO!
