PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Unnu Koc (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yushimushi Kamagashi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Unnu Koc has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Unnu Koc!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Yushimushi Kamagashi!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Matheus Silva and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Koc tries to clinch but Kamagashi is having none of it.

Koc moves into the clinch.
Kamagashi wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Koc has him pressed against the cage.
Kamagashi wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Kamagashi breaks from the clinch.
Unnu Koc seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Koc is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Kamagashi slips a jab and a cross from Koc.

Koc takes the fight into the clinch.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Kamagashi gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Koc.

Kamagashi breaks from the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Horrible takedown by Kamagashi or perhaps it was just good defense by Koc which made him look bad.
Koc with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Kamagashi to score with a decent uppercut.

Kamagashi closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Ground and pound from Kamagashi.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kamagashi passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Koc!
Kamagashi prevents Koc from getting the reversal.

Kamagashi has control of Koc's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Koc regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Kamagashi looking for a guillotine from mount but Koc is having none of it.
Kamagashi has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Kamagashi takes his opponent's back. Perhaps a chance to lock up a rear naked choke here.
Kamagashi is hanging on to Koc's back as he tries to escape.
Koc knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Kamagashi on the ground.
Oooh a big shot gets through from Kamagashi. Many more shots like that and the referee will have to think about stepping in!
Koc is in bad spot here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kamagashi is working hard for the rear naked choke here.

Koc rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Koc is looking to escape.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Koc kicks Kamagashi off and gets back to his feet.
The fight stays on the outside here - Koc looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Koc looks to land a combination but Kamagashi avoids it well.
Koc tries to clinch but Kamagashi is having none of it.
Koc uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.

Koc gets caught flat footed, as Kamagashi shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Koc can't keep his opponent in guard - Kamagashi advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Kamagashi prevents Koc from improving his position.

Kamagashi is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Koc defends it well.
Koc moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Kamagashi with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

Kamagashi trying to control the position from guard on top but Koc is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Kamagashi stands up from Koc's guard - Kamagashi perhaps looking for a knockout.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
A jab from Kamagashi finds it's way through Koc's defenses.
Koc has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Koc there as he acknowledges the shot.
Koc tries to clinch but Kamagashi is having none of it.
Kamagashi misses with a straight right.
Kamagashi looks to land a combination. Koc sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Koc is looking to clinch but Kamagashi is avoiding it.
Kamagashi avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Kamagashi circles away from the clinch attempt.

Kamagashi gets a takedown into half guard.
Koc tries to roll over but Kamagashi keeps him under control.
Kamagashi wants to control but Koc is keeping him busy.
Koc throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Kamagashi is keen to just control but Koc is a slippery customer.
Kamagashi is just content to waste time from the top position. Koc takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Koc is looking to stand up but Kamagashi isn't so interested in that idea.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Kamagashi takes a decent strike to the side of the head.
Kamagashi trying to control but Koc is working from the bottom.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Koc lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Koc.
Kamagashi fails with the takedown.
Koc is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Kamagashi missing with a left hand there. Koc was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Kamagashi connects with a body shot.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!
Koc lands with a nice combination. Kamagashi backs away looking to recover.
Kamagashi throws a nice looking combination but Koc bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Kamagashi fails in his attempt to clinch.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Kamagashi changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Koc looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Koc explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!

and Kamagashi counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Kamagashi drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Kamagashi jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Koc is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Kamagashi is controlling him.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Yushimushi Kamagashi dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Kamagashi lands a jab-cross combination.

Kamagashi shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Kamagashi was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Kamagashi lands a heavy elbow.
Koc is squirming around, avoiding Kamagashi's attempts to control the action.
Koc tries to hold on but Kamagashi postures up.

Kamagashi quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for Kamagashi but it's paid off an Koc is forced to tap! Nice work by Kamagashi.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:42 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Yushimushi Kamagashi!
