Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, James Shortman! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Rafael Da Silva! The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Paul Gruel and Micheangelo Fripello.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shortman misses with a two punch combination.
Nice takedown defense from Shortman. No joy for Da Silva on that attempt. Shortman fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Da Silva misses with a takedown attempt - Shortman sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Shortman throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Shortman tries to keep at a distance but Da Silva has taken the fight into the clinch. Shortman tries to pull guard but Da Silva holds him up against the cage and eventually Shortman drops back down to his feet.
Shortman goes for a takedown in the clinch but Da Silva prevents it.
