In the red corner, competing out of Amsterdam, with a TWGC record of 2 wins and 0 losses; Marc Read! And in the blue corner, fighting out of St Petersburg, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 0 losses; Phol Boxaaja!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Matti Vanhoillinen and Tarja Halkonen.


The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Boxaaja isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Read stacks Boxaaja on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Read!

Read slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
Boxaaja felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Read seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Boxaaja for as long as he can get away with.
Boxaaja is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Read off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted.
You can see the frustration on Boxaaja's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Read keeps control of the position easily here as Boxaaja tries to buck him off.
This is a sustained period of stalling by Read.

I really don't envy Boxaaja right now.
