This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the welterweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Amsterdam, with a TWGC record of 30 wins and 8 losses; Ibbe Ribbler! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Helsinki, with a TWGC record of 15 wins and 14 losses; Paul Hunt!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Arvi Lind and Roosa Järviläinen.


The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way.
Hunt throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Ribbler's waist but Ribbler gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Hunt off to one side.
Paul Hunt seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ribbler keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Ribbler drops down looking for a counter takedown but Hunt sprawls and moves away.
Hunt dives in and grabs Ribbler's left leg, looking for a takedown. Ribbler pushes down on Hunt's head and hops out.
Ribbler feinted with a counter takedown.
Ibbe Ribbler has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Paul Hunt.

Ribbler rushes Hunt and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Hunt works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.

Hunt is taking a breather. Ribbler says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
We've been hearing good reports from Ribbler's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hunt trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Hunt controls from within his opponent's guard.
Ribbler keeping full guard, as Hunt tries to pass.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ribbler can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Hunt controls the pace.
Hunt stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ribbler swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Hunt controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Let's hope that Hunt has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Hunt wants to control from the top but Ribbler keeps moving.

Hunt avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Hunt stands and throws Ribbler's legs to the side, diving into side control.

We've been informed that Hunt has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Hunt laying and praying for a moment but Ribbler takes advantage and regains half guard.

Hunt frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Ribbler wants to hold on but Hunt pushes him away.

Ribbler is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Ribbler reaches up to try and control the position but Hunt seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Ribbler rolls and tries to escape and now Hunt has his back!

Hunt biding his time, looking for the opening.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Hunt is controlling the position but Ribbler somehow manages to roll and ends up with half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Hunt in particular looking to stall.

That's eleven minutes gone in the round.

Ribbler looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Ribbler is looking to control Hunt's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Ribbler avoid being mounted?
Hunt wants to free his trapped foot but Ribbler is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Ribbler tries to roll over but Hunt keeps him under control.

Hunt seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Ribbler does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Hunt with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Hunt wants to lay and pray for a moment but Ribbler keeps working.

Ribbler is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
Hunt passes to full mount!

Hunt wants to take Ribbler's back but he can't do it this time.

Hunt can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Ribbler is looking to escape.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Hunt is looking to work his way around to Ribbler's back. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position.

And that's the end of the fight!
