Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Kalle Kuula!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Dave Kongo!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Johanna Lukiainen and Anni Minnemäki.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kuula misses with a takedown
and Kongo holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Kuula really is a fat lump.
Jeez, both these guys look absolutely knackered already, that's not a good sign!
Kongo tries to break free but Kuula pushes him back against the cage.
Kuula ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Kuula no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Kongo controlling from the top position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kongo tries to free his leg and advance position but Kuula is retaining full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kuula controls Kongo momentarily but Kongo frees himself.
My spies in Cozad MMA Hilo inform me that Kongo has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!
Kongo is sitting in close to Kuula's body. Kuula has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Kongo is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Kongo is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Kuula.
