Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Lenny Bruce (ranked 2444 p4p, 3089 weight class) and Aaron Sparrow (ranked 346 p4p, 416 weight class). Lenny Bruce could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Aaron Sparrow's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Lenny Bruce!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Aaron Sparrow!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Felipe Paraventi and Edson Gomes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bruce tries a head kick but it misses.

Sparrow gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Bruce breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Bruce looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Bruce closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Sparrow's guard.
Sparrow is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Sparrow jumps guard and drags Bruce to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Bruce stands up and waves to Sparrow to follow him.
Bruce fails with the takedown.

Bruce fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Sparrow to the ground. Bruce is now in Sparrow's guard.

Bruce breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Bruce displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Sparrow.
Sparrow tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Sparrow throws a sloppy head kick and Bruce moves out of range easily.
Bruce shoots in looking for a takedown but Sparrow manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Bruce's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
As Bruce backs off Sparrow throws a huge counter combo but Bruce manages to avoid it all.
Bruce tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Sparrow tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Bruce swivels and escapes.

Sparrow rushes Bruce and presses him up against the cage.

Bruce's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Bruce dives in for a single leg takedown but Sparrow sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Bruce breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
No luck for Sparrow with that takedown attempt.

Sparrow shoots in looking for a takedown. Bruce tries to sprawl out of it but Sparrow keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Bruce manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Sparrow tries to clinch up but Bruce circles away and keeps his distance.
Sparrow keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Sparrow is pressed up against the cage. Bruce has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Sparrow down to the mat. Sparrow avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Sparrow lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Bruce looks to throw the jab but Sparrow is out of range.
Sparrow fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Bruce avoids it really well and circles away.
Sparrow throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.

Bruce drives through with a takedown into Sparrow's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Sparrow had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Bruce defends it easily.

Bruce has gone for a leg lock! Sparrow slips out almost immediately though and dives into Bruce's guard.

Bruce throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

Well, if Sparrow is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Sparrow slips a nice elbow through Bruce's hands, connecting with Bruce's forehead.
Sparrow looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Bruce with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
My spies in Ginásio Guerreiro inform me that Sparrow has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Sparrow jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Bruce walks away with a smile on his face. Sparrow gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Sparrow tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Bruce manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Aaron Sparrow showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

We've been hearing good reports from Bruce's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Lenny Bruce.
Well Sparrow has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
