The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A big right from Dux misses. Dux throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Ries lands a really nice looking cross but Dux seems unphased.
A telegraphed right hand from Dux misses the target. Dux fails with a takedown attempt. We've been hearing reports that Dux has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight. Dux tries to close the distance and clinch but Ries swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Dux fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Ries manages to avoid it. And an attempted straight right on the counter from Ries! But no joy. No luck for Dux with that takedown attempt. Ries doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Dux throws a combination that misses and Dux takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Dux looks to land a combination. Ries sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots. Ries lunges at Dux with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Dux's hand. Ries looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ries lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Dux at a distance.
Ries walks forward and throws a big overhand right! Dux drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes! Ries swarms on him with more punches until the referee wrestles him away from Dux's unconscious body! Wow, that was brutal!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:15 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Eric Ries!
