The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Davis throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Davis throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.

and Shanikov counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Davis thinking.

Shanikov lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Davis lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Shanikov has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Shanikov and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Shanikov has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Davis finds it's way round the side to connect with Shanikov's head.

Shanikov throws a lazy right hand but Davis sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Shanikov throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Shanikov fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Davis throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Mucak Shanikov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Davis throws out a loose jab but Shanikov uses good head movement to avoid it.
Shanikov was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Davis is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Shanikov had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into mush.

and Shanikov counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Shanikov wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Davis will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
