Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Donnie Larkin (ranked 343 p4p, 333 weight class) and Athos Knox (ranked 50 p4p, 47 weight class). Knox comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Click Click Boom | Saliva kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Athos Knox was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Donnie Larkin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 9 - 0, fighting out of London, Athos Knox!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Chris Downing and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Larkin is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
A little jabbing left from Knox on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Knox lands an overhand right.
Larkin moves out of range as Knox strikes.

Larkin closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Knox breaks the clinch.
Larkin moves in looking to clinch but Knox pushes him off.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Knox! But no joy.
Larkin keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Larkin gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Knox breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Knox throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Larkin closes the distance but Knox moves to the side
and Knox counters with a nice uppercut.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Knox cracks Larkin with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
A slow jab from Knox misses its intended target.
Larkin looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
A shot to the liver by Larkin. Beautiful body shot.

Larkin has Knox up against the cage in a clinch.

Knox breaks from the clinch.
Knox rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Larkin counters with a nice low kick that buckles Knox's knee momentarily.
Larkin lands a glancing blow to the side of Knox's head.

It looks like Athos Knox has been cut.
Knox uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.

It looks like Donnie Larkin has been cut.
Knox throws a lazy right hand but Larkin sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Larkin is defended easily by Knox.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A left lands for Knox.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Larkin tries to clinch but Knox is having none of it.
Larkin misses with a takedown attempt - Knox sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Larkin tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Knox counters with a nice uppercut.
Knox throws a hook to the side of Larkin's head but Larkin sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Larkin walks into a jab.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Larkin wants to clinch
letting Knox counter with a right hand.
Knox avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Larkin moves away from the strike by Knox.
Larkin tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Knox manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
A little jabbing left from Knox on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.

Larkin fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Knox, pushing him back against the cage.

Larkin breaks from the clinch.
Knox darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Knox throws a lazy right hand but Larkin sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Knox lands a left and a right that send Larkin crashing to the mat, dazed. Knox thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

Larkin is rocked!
Knox has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Knox lunges in with a left hook that violently twists Larkin head around and knocks him out cold! Knox hops onto the cage and yells out at the top of his lungs - Yeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaah! They're showing the replay on the big screens now; that was nasty! I hope one of the photographers got a good shot of it.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Athos Knox!
Athos Knox took to the microphone after his victory and thanked his sponsors, Voodoo Nutrition for their support in the buildup to the fight.
