This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the lightweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Montreal, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 0 losses; Barry Ridgewood! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 0 losses; Ralphie Hornby!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, William Peck and Robert Douchet.
The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way.
Hornby clinches up against the cage.
Ridgewood drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Hornby gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Ridgewood is looking for a takedown.
Ridgewood really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Ridgewood is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Ridgewood drops down looking for an ankle pick but Hornby pulls his leg out and moves away.

Hornby tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Ridgewood manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Hornby tries to score a power double leg takedown but Ridgewood sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Hornby somewhat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Ridgewood tries to score a body lock takedown but Hornby shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Hornby gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Ridgewood.
Ridgewood is pressed up against the cage. Hornby has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Ridgewood down to the mat. Ridgewood avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Hornby shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Ridgewood sprawls well. Ridgewood wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Hornby gets slowly back to his feet.

Ridgewood displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Hornby.

Ridgewood is trying to drag Hornby to the mat but Hornby just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Hornby tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Ridgewood just stands there and leans against the cage.

Ridgewood is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Hornby can't fight it off and eventually Ridgewood manages to take the fight to the floor. Hornby looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Ridgewood (2) vs (0) Hornby
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Hornby can do anything to dispel that myth.
Ridgewood drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Ridgewood seems to have locked his on tight now - Hornby screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Ridgewood, as he picks up the win!
