PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Aaron Rodgers (ranked 4621 p4p, 4615 weight class) and Sub Kingz (ranked 507 p4p, 506 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Aaron Rodgers!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Sub Kingz!
The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Jeff Smith and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kingz throws a sloppy head kick
and Rodgers counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Rodgers staying out of range there.
It looked like Rodgers was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Kingz.

Kingz shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Rodgers napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Kingz wants to take a breather but Rodgers manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Kingz.
Rodgers keeping moving, preventing Kingz from controlling successfully.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rodgers wants to get back to his feet but Kingz is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Kingz gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Kingz closes the distance and clinches.
Rodgers lands a body shot in the clinch.

Kingz has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Rodgers uses from the top position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kingz working for submissions but it's allowed Rodgers to get to half guard.
Rodgers tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Kingz.

Kingz looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Rodgers wants to stand up but Kingz has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Kingz wants to get back to his feet.
Rodgers tries to stand but can't do so whilst Kingz controls his leg.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Kingz misses with an uppercut. Rodgers saw that one coming.
Kingz tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Kingz moves into the clinch successfully.

Kingz has clasped his hands together around Rodgers's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Kingz throwing strikes but Rodgers manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!

Kingz wants to control but Rodgers postures up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Kingz is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
Kingz is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.

That was a close round but I would say that Aaron Rodgers will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

Kingz closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Rodgers to the mat! Rodgers manages to get full guard.
Rodgers is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Kingz stands up from Rodgers's guard - Kingz perhaps looking for a knockout.

Kingz clinches up with Rodgers and pushes him back against the cage.
Rodgers lands a shot to the body.

Kingz escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Sub Kingz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Kingz moves into range and clinches up with Rodgers.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Kingz.
Rodgers digs a right hand into Kingz's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Kingz's gas tank.

Rodgers throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
Kingz trying to stall but Rodgers improves his position.
Rodgers works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.

Kingz has clasped his hands together around Rodgers's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Kingz creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Rodgers sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Rodgers bucks up and tries to throw Kingz off but instead Kingz has got his back!
Rodgers trying to get back to his feet but Kingz is in full control for now.
Kingz is looking to control Rodgers but Rodgers is wriggling around and keeping busy.

Kingz somehow managing to miss with a strike from the back.

Kingz looking for the choke but no joy.
Kingz wants to control but Rodgers is keeping busy.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Kingz tightening his grip on Rodgers, looking for the choke.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Sub Kingz showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Kingz decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Rodgers, up you get!
Sub Kingz is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Kingz feints and as Rodgers raises his hands in defense, Kingz changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Kingz accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Kingz throws a big elbow that misses.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kingz trying to control but Rodgers is working from the bottom.
Kingz trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Kingz trying to control the position from guard on top but Rodgers is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Kingz stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rodgers swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Kingz wants to control from the top but Rodgers keeps moving.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Kingz closes the distance and pushes Rodgers back into the cage.
Rodgers digs a right hand underneath Kingz's ribcage. Kingz let out a lung full of air as it connected.

Kingz gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Rodgers tries to kick Kingz off in order to stand up. Kingz Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
Rodgers regains half guard there - taking advantage of Kingz's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.
Kingz sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Rodgers defending well though.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Kingz wants to control but Rodgers is keeping him busy.
Rodgers keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Kingz is looking to stall here but Rodgers recovers full guard.
Rodgers keeping moving, preventing Kingz from controlling successfully.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Kingz is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

And that's the end of the fight!
Sub Kingz comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Kingz has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
