Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Omar Makmarwari (ranked 4661 p4p, 4657 weight class) and Sean McCarthy (ranked 0 p4p, 139 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Makmarwari has closed the distance and engaged McCarthy in a clinch.
Makmarwari jumps guard but McCarthy turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
McCarthy is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Makmarwari to keep the fight standing.
McCarthy is pressed up against the cage. Makmarwari has hold of a leg and is looking to drag McCarthy down to the mat. McCarthy avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

McCarthy throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Makmarwari was covering up waiting for the punch and McCarthy finishes the takedown easily into guard.

McCarthy thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

McCarthy drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
McCarthy is staying tight to Makmarwari 's torso, preventing him from escaping.

McCarthy decides to take the fight back to the feet.

McCarthy feints and as Makmarwari raises his hands in defense, McCarthy changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

McCarthy controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
McCarthy is pushing down on Makmarwari 's leg trying to pass to half guard. Makmarwari is fighting to maintain full guard but McCarthy has managed to sneak the leg through.
McCarthy looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

McCarthy stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Makmarwari to get to his feet.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

McCarthy drives through with a takedown into Makmarwari 's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

McCarthy feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Makmarwari is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

McCarthy wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Makmarwari jumps guard but McCarthy turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Makmarwari has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics McCarthy uses from the top position.

A frustrated look appears on McCarthy's face as he tries to break the clinch.

McCarthy closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

McCarthy wants to work for an arm triangle but Makmarwari is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

McCarthy has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

McCarthy looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

McCarthy is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Makmarwari to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Makmarwari shrugs it off.
