Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dwayne Evans (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Anthony Petruzelli (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Evans comes to the cage accompanied by P.O.D. - The Messenjah. Petruzelli has chosen How Could I Just Kill A Man as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. On his way into the cage it seems that Dwayne Evans has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Dwayne Evans seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Dwayne Evans! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Anthony Petruzelli! The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Skip Squint and Bruno Hogan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Petruzelli wants to clinch up but Evans keeps it at a distance. Evans shoots for a double leg takedown but Petruzelli sprawls well. He's pushed Evans's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Evans will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Evans looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dwayne Evans. That's going to take a lot out of him. Petruzelli pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Evans checks a low kick from Petruzelli. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Evans misses with a low kick.
Evans closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Petruzelli pushes Evans off looking to stand but Evans dives back in and keeps control.
Petruzelli is looking to control Evans's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Petruzelli avoid being mounted? Evans is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Petruzelli defends it well. Petruzelli avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Evans. Evans thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Evans is working for a kimura but Petruzelli is defending it quite comfortably.
Petruzelli kicks Evans off and gets back to his feet. Evans throws a nice looking combination but Petruzelli bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Evans looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Petruzelli doesn't manage to clinch there - Evans circles away.
Anthony Petruzelli seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Evans scores with a one two! Petruzelli had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes. Anthony Petruzelli is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Petruzelli tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Evans paws at him with a jab and circles away. Petruzelli is looking to clinch but Evans is avoiding it.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Petruzelli, as that shot connected.
Petruzelli is looking to clinch. Evans shoots in and bounces Petruzelli off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Evans loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Evans with a flurry of punches that miss. Evans thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Petruzelli controls Evans momentarily but Evans frees himself. Evans working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Petruzelli's head. Petruzelli is looking to stand up but Evans isn't so interested in that idea. Petruzelli preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Petruzelli fails with an attempt to clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Petruzelli is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Evans fails with a takedown attempt. Petruzelli fails in his attempt to clinch. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. A bone on bone clash there as Evans blocks the leg kick.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Petruzelli tries to roll over but Evans keeps him under control. Evans wants to work for an arm triangle but Petruzelli is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Evans landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Evans thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Evans is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Evans is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Petruzelli has managed to free his arm - good work. Evans thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Petruzelli's head. Evans throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Petruzelli is defending against the submission attempts here by Evans.

He's almost out here... but no, Evans gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Petruzelli is trying to control Evans's posture but Evans avoids it. Petruzelli is breathing heavily. Evans is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Petruzelli is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Petruzelli can't do much from the bottom here. Evans decides to stand back up. Evans shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Petruzelli as he avoids it easily. It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Petruzelli throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Evans. Petruzelli tries to clinch but fails miserably and Evans counters with a takedown into side control. Evans has knee on belly and moves into mount. Evans lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Dwayne Evans overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Petruzelli sneaks a leg under to get to half guard. Petruzelli really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Evans. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Evans drops an elbow to the side of Petruzelli's head. Evans has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Petruzelli has one foot on Evans's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet. Evans fails in his attempt to clinch. Petruzelli keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Petruzelli tries to get to full guard but Evans has control of the leg. Evans decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet. Petruzelli tries to clinch but Evans moves away and Evans counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Petruzelli's guard now. Evans drops back looking for a leg! Petruzelli is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Petruzelli manages to kick Evans off! Evans jumps back into Petruzelli's guard. Evans is looking to work some ground and pound but Petruzelli has wrist control. Evans won't allow Petruzelli to get back to his feet. Petruzelli working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Evans. Evans scoring with some ground and pound. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Petruzelli is on top in guard.
Evans looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Petruzelli has picked Evans up and slammed him! Evans can't keep hold of the triangle and Petruzelli manages to pass to side control! Evans regains half guard.

Petruzelli content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Evans looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Petruzelli seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

Dwayne Evans clearly takes that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Evans circles away from the clinch attempt and Evans counters with a nice double leg into guard. Evans missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Evans slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Evans lands some shots froms side control. Evans working away. Evans tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Petruzelli is absolutely dripping with sweat - he looks exhausted. Petruzelli has one of Evans's arms on lockdown, trying to prevent him from doing any damage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Evans is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Petruzelli knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Evans is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Petruzelli looks calm but he's in trouble here. Evans gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Petruzelli is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Evans lets go of the hold and Petruzelli can pop his arm back in it's socket.
