This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the light heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of New York, with a TWGC record of 6 wins and 13 losses; Arm Breaker! And in the blue corner, fighting out of London, with a TWGC record of 6 wins and 7 losses; Fionn Mulligan! The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Emerson Jorge and Felipe Paraventi.
The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way. Breaker is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Mulligan tries to score a power double leg takedown but Breaker sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Mulligan somewhat. Breaker looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Breaker (2) vs (0) Mulligan Breaker is working for a kimura but Mulligan is defending it quite comfortably.
Mulligan told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet. Mulligan is pressing down on Breaker's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Breaker pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Mulligan is keeping the position for now. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Breaker trying to control but Mulligan is working from the bottom. Mulligan lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: Breaker (2) vs (2) Mulligan Breaker is looking for a triangle but Mulligan pushes his legs off easily.
Mulligan wants to pass the guard but Breaker is keeping the position. Mulligan is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Mulligan has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Breaker to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Mulligan is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Breaker pulls down on the head and he's put Mulligan to sleep! This one is all over!
