Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Michael Cruz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Gurizuri Nakamura!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, James Ackerman and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A looping hook to the body misses from Cruz. Nakamura does a little dance to reset his feet.
Cruz misses the shot to the body.
Cruz scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Nakamura doesn't seem bothered though.

Nakamura closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Cruz's guard.
Cruz can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Nakamura controls the pace.
Nakamura throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Nakamura throws a big right hand that misses.

Nakamura avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Cruz looking to hit a scissor sweep but Nakamura is one step ahead there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Nakamura is looking to work some ground and pound but Cruz has wrist control.
Nakamura lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Cruz controls Nakamura momentarily but Nakamura frees himself.
Nakamura postures up and lands a big shot to Cruz's brow.
Cruz keeping moving, preventing Nakamura from controlling successfully.
Cruz is trying to keep Nakamura in close.

Cruz is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Nakamura wants to control from the top but Cruz keeps moving.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Nakamura is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Nakamura landing some decent shots from guard.

Nakamura got a little sloppy there for a moment and Cruz has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Nakamura has managed to get both his arms back between Cruz's legs - danger averted.
Nakamura wants to control from the top but Cruz keeps moving.
Cruz looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Nakamura trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Cruz will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Cruz working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Nakamura doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Cruz is tightening it up a little... Nakamura has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Nakamura reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Nakamura taps out! Nice BJJ there by Cruz!
