This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the middleweight division. Introducing today's competitors. And in the blue corner, fighting out of New York, with a TWGC record of 8 wins and 3 losses; Eduardo Vieira! The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Mauricio Rocha and Daniel Cesar.
The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way. Jones fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Vieira avoids it really well and circles away. No luck for Vieira with that takedown attempt. Jones drops down looking for a counter takedown but Vieira sprawls and moves away. Vieira gets caught flat footed, as Jones shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Jones (2) vs (0) Vieira Jones stopping the sweep attempt from Vieira. Vieira wants to hit a sweep here but Jones passes into full mount! Vieira gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Vieira stopping the sweep attempt from Jones. Vieira tries to free his leg and advance position but Jones is retaining full guard. Vieira is staying active underneath Jones, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Vieira is in trouble now - Jones has advanced to mount! Jones swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Vieira is now in Jones's guard. A big mistake from Jones there, giving up the dominant position!
