Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Franky Rodgers (ranked 2987 p4p, 240 weight class) and Remi Chavaski (ranked 289 p4p, 30 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Franky Rodgers! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 10 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Remi Chavaski! The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, Santiago Holmes and Sandra Marshall.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rodgers changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Chavaski tries to avoid it but Rodgers manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Chavaski to the ground. Chavaski escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Rodgers shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Chavaski's guard. Chavaski is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Rodgers trying to control the position from guard on top but Chavaski is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Rodgers chips away with some ground and pound. Chavaski working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Rodgers doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Rodgers manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Chavaski holds on and takes a little breather. Rodgers knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Chavaski on the ground. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Rodgers trying to control but Chavaski is working from the bottom. Rodgers has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Rodgers is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Chavaski is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rodgers throws a strike but Chavaski rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Chavaski is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Rodgers keeping full guard, as Chavaski tries to pass. Chavaski is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Chavaski's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Chavaski wants to control from the top but Rodgers keeps moving. Chavaski is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Chavaski wants to control from the top but Rodgers keeps moving. Chavaski advances position into side control! Chavaski wants to lay and pray for a moment but Rodgers keeps working.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Chavaski is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Rodgers has escaped the position, nice work there. Chavaski has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Rodgers! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Chavaski controlling the position easily from mount. Rodgers on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Rodgers tries to get out of the position. Chavaski tries to control but Rodgers wriggling away. Chavaski jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Rodgers is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Rodgers and Chavaski has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Chavaski is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Rodgers knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Chavaski is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Rodgers will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Chavaski trying to control the action but Rodgers is working from the bottom. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Remi Chavaski dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Chavaski closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Rodgers tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Chavaski manages to move to mount!
Chavaski has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Island Gym. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one. Chavaski controlling from mount. Rodgers is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Chavaski trying to control but he's not successful this time. Chavaski looking for a guillotine from mount but Rodgers is having none of it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Chavaski sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. That's one minute gone in the round. Chavaski wants to control the action but instead Rodgers gets a body lock and reverses into Chavaski's guard! Nice work! Chavaski escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Rodgers gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Chavaski is pulling down on Rodgers's head to control his posture. Rodgers not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Chavaski controls Rodgers momentarily but Rodgers frees himself. Rodgers in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Rodgers stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Chavaski swivels though and keeps the full guard. Rodgers postures up.

Rodgers got a little sloppy there for a moment and Chavaski has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Rodgers has managed to get both his arms back between Chavaski's legs - danger averted. Chavaski looking for a sweep. Not yet Chavaski, not yet. Chavaski escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Rodgers gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Rodgers trying to control but Chavaski is working from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rodgers is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Rodgers throwing strikes but missing. Rodgers with a nice head shot there. Chavaski has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Rodgers should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Chavaski has tightened it up now! Rodgers should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:48 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Remi Chavaski! A very excited looking Remi Chavaski rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
