Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Michael Nara!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Scott Beckerman!
The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Matheus Silva and Thiago Cunha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nara swinging wilding here.
Beckerman throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Nara throws a right hand that Beckerman ducks under and follows up with a left that Beckerman also avoids with ease.

Beckerman drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Nara wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Nara gets caught flat footed, as Beckerman shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Beckerman is pushing down on Nara's leg trying to pass to half guard. Nara is fighting to maintain full guard but Beckerman has managed to sneak the leg through.
Nara is looking to escape.

Beckerman is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Nara doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Beckerman.
Nara wants to get back to his feet.

Beckerman stands up and beckons Nara to join him on the feet.

and Nara counters with a left and a right that stings Beckerman.

Beckerman doesn't manage to clinch there - Nara circles away.
Nara keeps the fight on the outside.

Beckerman shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Beckerman was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Beckerman tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Nara wants to try and get back to his feet.

Beckerman is working for a guillotine from mount but Nara frees his head quite easily.
Beckerman fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Nara blocks a head kick by Beckerman.
Beckerman throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Nara's waist but Nara gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Beckerman off to one side.

and Beckerman counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Nara is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Beckerman is controlling him.

Nara's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

BOOM! Beckerman connects with a massive shot to the dome!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Beckerman is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Nara has managed to escape the submission attempt.

You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.

Despite being in the dominant position, Scott Beckerman just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Beckerman closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Beckerman is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Nara will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Beckerman looks to land a right hand but Nara moved out of range.
Nara misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Scott Beckerman showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Nara tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Nara tries to kick Beckerman off but Beckerman keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Beckerman winds up and cracks Nara with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Nara knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Beckerman on the ground.
Nara looks like he's trying to stand up.

Beckerman is looking for a kimura but Nara is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Beckerman to get the leverage.
Still in half guard, Beckerman seems content to control.

Beckerman stands up and beckons Nara to join him on the feet.
Beckerman throws a head kick but Nara moves out of range.

Beckerman tries to clinch but Nara is having none of it.
Well,Nara is on his way to losing a decision here. Can he use his experience to pull something off in the closing minutes?

Beckerman working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Nara doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Nara manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Nice takedown defense from Nara. No joy for Beckerman on that attempt.

The fight stays on the outside here - Beckerman looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Beckerman fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Nara sprawls well initially but Beckerman persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
