Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Shane Pulver (ranked 2940 p4p, 3965 weight class) and Lemmy Kilmeister (ranked 368 p4p, 465 weight class). Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Shane Pulver! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Lemmy Kilmeister! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Percy O'Donnell and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pulver uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Kilmeister. Pulver appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick. An inside leg kick lands from Pulver. Pulver clinches up against the cage. Pulver is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Kilmeister is defending well for now. Kilmeister tries to break the clinch but Pulver is controlling the position. Kilmeister is trying to break the clinch but Pulver has him pressed against the cage. Pulver slows down the pace here.
Pulver throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Pulver breaks from the clinch.
Kilmeister scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. Pulver shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Kilmeister manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Pulver won't allow Kilmeister to sweep him here. Pulver stops Kilmeister from standing up. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Pulver accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Kilmeister is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Pulver is controlling him.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pulver content to stall in guard here. Kilmeister not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Pulver wants to control from the top but Kilmeister keeps moving. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Pulver controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Pulver feints and then cracks Kilmeister's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Kilmeister down. Kilmeister looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Kilmeister connects with a jab. An inside leg kick lands from Pulver. Pulver pushes Kilmeister away with a front kick. Kilmeister uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Pulver has time to react. Pulver tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Kilmeister with a hook.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kilmeister lands a jab.
Pulver is rocked! Lemmy Kilmeister is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Kilmeister blocks the body kick.
Kilmeister looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. Oh Pulver is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Kilmeister fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Pulver on the side of the head. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Pulver gets caught by a big overhand right and goes down! Kilmeister gets on top of him and starts throwing some serious punches until the ref intervenes and stops the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:16 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Lemmy Kilmeister! A relieved looking Lemmy Kilmeister thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
