PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Adam Shalashaska (ranked 350 p4p, 1525 weight class) and Odd Job (ranked 57 p4p, 208 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Adam Shalashaska!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Odd Job!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Paul Tew and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Job looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Job trying to control but Shalashaska is working from the bottom.

Shalashaska is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Job is aware though and is defending well.
Job is looking to work some ground and pound but Shalashaska has wrist control.
Job controlling from the top position.
Job must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Job with a flurry of punches that miss.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Job looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Shalashaska has momentary wrist control but Job slips an elbow through the middle.

Job looking to sit in guard and control but Shalashaska gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Shalashaska wants to pass the guard but Job is keeping the position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Job is looking for a triangle but Shalashaska pushes his legs off easily.
Job looking to control.
Shalashaska pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Job is keeping the position for now.

Job escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Shalashaska gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Our spies down at at NY Savages inform us that Job has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?
Shalashaska trying to control the position from guard on top but Job is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Shalashaska with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Job throws a jab but it's blocked by Shalashaska.
Job shoots for a takedown but Shalashaska saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
A quick step to the side and Shalashaska tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
Shalashaska misses with a low kick.
Job gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Shalashaska.
Shalashaska throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Job walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Odd Job seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Shalashaska keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Job.
A head kick misses from Shalashaska.
A looping hook to the body misses from Shalashaska. Job does a little dance to reset his feet.
Job throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Shalashaska's waist but Shalashaska gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Job off to one side.
Job fails to land the takedown.
Adam Shalashaska has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Odd Job.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Shalashaska lands a body shot.
Shalashaska tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Job was well out of range. Poor timing from Shalashaska.
Job swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Shalashaska throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Job will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

and Shalashaska counters with a left to the body.
Shalashaska ducks under a wild hook from Job.
Shalashaska connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Job's hands.
Shalashaska is looking to wear down Job with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Job shoots and misses
and Shalashaska counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Job shoots in looking for a takedown. Shalashaska tries to sprawl out of it but Job keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Shalashaska manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Shalashaska scores with a decent looking hook.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Adam Shalashaska dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

Shalashaska avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Shalashaska swings for the body but Job moves out of range.
Adam Shalashaska is winning the standup battle so far.
Shalashaska fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.

Job closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Shalashaska quickly recovers to half guard.

Job is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Shalashaska is just riding it out for now. Job eventually gives up the hold.
Shalashaska wants to improve his position but Job is controlling well.
Shalashaska is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Job can do to turn this around?

Job scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
We've been hearing good reports from Shalashaska's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Shalashaska is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Job's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Job's back!

Job is trying to get back to his feet but Shalashaska has full control of the position and if anything, Job has just worked his way into a worse spot.
You can see the frustration on Job's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Shalashaska working for the rear naked choke here. He's got one arm under but Job is defending well. A couple of punches soften him up though and Shalashaska has tightened the hold! This one could be all over! It is! Job taps out!

A less than humble Adam Shalashaska misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
