PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cai Chi (ranked 4555 p4p, 3874 weight class) and Trek Shek (ranked 75 p4p, 128 weight class). Both these guys are coming into the fight with injuries so let's see if that has a bearing on the fight. Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Cai Chi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Trek Shek!
The judges for this bout are Ben Watson, Topper Green and Francis DeMontford.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shek throws a jab but it's blocked by Chi.
Shek looks to land a right hand but Chi moved out of range.

Shek thows a left - swing and a miss!
Chi drops down looking for a counter takedown but Shek sprawls and moves away.
Shek lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

Chi uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Shek.

Chi's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Shek connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Chi scrambles back to his feet.

Chi displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Shek throws out the jab.

Chi bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Shek might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

Trek Shek dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Shek misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Chi.
Shek is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Chi.

Shek has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Chi sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Shek's guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Chi is thwarting Shek's attempts to control the position.
Shek wants to get back to full guard.

Shek is looking to control Chi's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Shek avoid being mounted?

Chi seems to be looking for submissions.

Chi is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Shek really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Chi. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Chi passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Shek!

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! And we move into the final round!

Shek fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.

Chi pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Shek back to the cage. Chi follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Shek feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Chis jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Chi takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.

Shek struggles to land a body shot inside as Chi controls his hands.
Chi is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Shek is keeping busy.

Shek has been looking to improve his clinch game in recent weeks. Chi seems to have the measure of him in the clinch so far, so let's see if Shek can turn it around.

Oh Chi is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Shek lands a shot to the body.

Shek escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Shek bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Chi's head backwards.
Shek cracks Chi with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Chi tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Shek pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Chi is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:47 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Trek Shek!
A less than humble Trek Shek misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
