PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Franco Crossan (ranked 5641 p4p, 3168 weight class) and Dustin Grey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Grey has chosen Aneurysm as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Franco Crossan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Dustin Grey!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, James Glass and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Crossan shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Grey pinned against the cage. Grey gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Crossan tries to clinch there but Grey circles away.
Crossan changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Grey tries to avoid it but Crossan manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Grey to the ground. Grey escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Grey tries to counter by closing the distance.
Grey shoots for a takedown but Crossan saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Crossan tries for a takedown but Grey circles away easily
and Grey counters with a two punch combo.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Franco Crossan. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Crossan tries to clinch but Grey moves away
and Grey counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Crossan fails to land the takedown.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Grey counters with a crisp one two that drops Crossan! Grey thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Crossan to his feet! Crossan is in big trouble!

Crossan is rocked!
Grey scores with a nice right hand.
Oh Crossan is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Crossan throws a looping overhand right but Grey ducks down to avoid it.
Grey walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

Grey drives through and clinches with Crossan against the cage.
Crossan wants to break the clinch but can't.

Grey ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Grey no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Grey wants to sweep but no luck.
Crossan seems to have got his legs back now.
Crossan is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Crossan drops back, looking for a kneebar! Grey looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Grey looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Grey!

A lull in the action here.

Grey decides to stand up, so the ref orders Crossan to his feet.

Crossan fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Grey sprawls well initially but Crossan persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Grey has one foot on Crossan's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Crossan is breathing heavily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Grey throws a one two combo.
Grey misses with a jab, cross combination.

Grey moves into the clinch successfully.
Crossan prevents the takedown attempt.
Grey gets underhooks to prevent Crossan's takedown attempt.
Grey is pressed up against the cage. Crossan has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Grey down to the mat. Grey avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Crossan keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Grey moves into the clinch.

Grey drags the fight down to the ground.
Grey is controlling Crossan's posture.

Grey is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Crossan defends well.

Grey bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Crossan's guard.

Grey passes into half guard.
Grey with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Grey throwing shots but Crossan is blocking nicely.

Grey gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
Grey shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Crossan but Crossan pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Grey shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Crossan defends it nicely.
Grey stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Grey wants it to stay on the feet.
Grey feints the counter takedown.

Grey rushes Crossan and presses him up against the cage.

Grey breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Grey goes for a double leg but Crossan avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Crossan continues to drive forward.
It looked like Crossan wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Crossan takes one on the button.
Grey throws a sloppy head kick and Crossan moves out of range easily.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Grey.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Dustin Grey dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Crossan misses with a takedown attempt - Grey sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Crossan drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Crossan can't break the clinch.
Grey has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Crossan is trying to break the clinch but Grey has him pressed against the cage.

Grey jumps guard and drags Crossan to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Grey is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Grey manages to escape and get back to his feet.

Crossan walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Crossan tries to score a power double leg takedown but Grey sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Crossan somewhat.

Grey fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Crossan gets tackled into the cage by Grey. Grey maintains the clinch.
Grey has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Crossan is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Crossan is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Crossan tries to pull guard but Grey forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Crossan avoids the elbow strike from Grey, against the cage.
Crossan gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Grey.

Grey tries to break the clinch but Crossan is controlling the position.
Crossan keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Grey's efforts to push away.

Crossan breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Grey stuffs the takedown attempt from Crossan. Crossan gets slowly back to his feet.
Grey throws a head kick but Crossan moves out of range.

and Grey counters with a right hand to the body.

Franco Crossan is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Grey is trying hard to land a takedown here. Crossan sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Grey fails to land the takedown.
Grey stuffs the takedown attempt from Crossan. Crossan gets slowly back to his feet.
Crossan doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Grey counters with a series of strikes. Crossan will be more careful next time no doubt.

Grey closes the distance and pushes Crossan back into the cage.
Crossan is trying to break the clinch but Grey has him pressed against the cage.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Crossan has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Grey gets control of Crossan's arms and successfully pulls guard. Grey will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Crossan avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Grey is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Dustin Grey showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. And we move into the final round!

Crossan changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Grey looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Grey sneaks out the side door and pushes Crossan away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

Grey ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Grey no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Crossan drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Grey dives on top into guard.

Crossan knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Grey on the ground.
Grey is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Grey is continuing to stall.

Grey advances to half guard.
Grey controlling the action here.
Franco Crossan has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Grey throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Grey thows a huge punch but Crossan dodges it nicely.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Grey lands a jab to the head.
Grey throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Dustin Grey is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Grey closes the distance and pushes Crossan back into the cage.

And that's the end of the fight!
Dustin Grey comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Grey has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
