PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Stefan Schneider (ranked 4240 p4p, 4404 weight class) and Sio Fusasa (ranked 490 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Sio Fusasa!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Colin Fray and Josh West.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Schneider tries to close the distance and clinch but Fusasa swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Fusasa keeps the fight on the outside.

and Fusasa counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Schneider won't allow Fusasa to pass to mount.
Fusasa tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Schneider.

Fusasa seems to be working for a kimura but Schneider defends the submission attempt.
Fusasa really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Schneider. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Fusasa tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Schneider.

Fusasa perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Fusasa stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Schneider to get to his feet.

Fusasa closes the distance and clinches.
Schneider jumps guard but Fusasa stands there with Schneider around his waist. Schneider gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Fusasa can't get the takedown.
Fusasa has had enough of the clinch but Schneider keeps him there for the moment.
Fusasa goes for a takedown in the clinch but Schneider prevents it.
Fusasa goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Fusasa escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Schneider moves to clinch but Fusasa breaks away
and Fusasa connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Fusasa shoots in looking for a takedown. Schneider tries to sprawl out of it but Fusasa keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Schneider manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Stefan Schneider has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sio Fusasa.
Schneider tries to clinch but Fusasa moves away
and Fusasa counters with a good, hard body kick but Schneider shrugs it off.

Fusasa has closed the distance and engaged Schneider in a clinch.

Fusasa jumps guard.

Schneider drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Schneider as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Fusasa screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Schneider! Nice submission victory there!
