Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Snail Tail (ranked 971 p4p, 2809 weight class) and Tim Dalton (ranked 133 p4p, 337 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 4 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Snail Tail!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tim Dalton!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Colin Fotheringham and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A nice combination there by Dalton.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Dalton has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Danga de danga de dang - Dalton scores with a four punch combination!

It looks like Snail Tail has been cut.
Dalton swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Tail decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Dalton's guard.
Dalton is pulling down on Tail's head to control his posture.

Dalton looking for a guillotine here but Tail defends easily.
Tail controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Tail trying to control but Dalton is working from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Tail drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Tail jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Tail stands and throws Dalton's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Tail is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Dalton knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Tail working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Dalton is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Tail is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
Tail controlling the pace for now.

Dalton is wriggling around trying to escape.

Tail is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Dalton can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Dalton wants to hold on but Tail pushes him away.
Dalton is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Tail is staying active.

Dalton defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Tail.
Dalton is desperately trying to improve his position but Tail has a good base and remains in mount.

Tail jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Dalton is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Dalton and Tail has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Dalton manages to get back to half guard.

Dalton wants to control but Tail is keeping busy.

Tail is working for a kimura but Dalton is defending it quite comfortably.

Tail is trying to control. Dalton wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Tail in particular looking to stall.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Dalton trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!
Tail has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.

Tail has control of Dalton's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Dalton regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Dalton is squirming around, avoiding Tail's attempts to control the action.

Tail throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Dalton has his hands clasped together but Tail breaks the hold and Dalton is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Tail!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:50 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Snail Tail!
Snail Tail retains his lightweight title!
In his post fight interview, Snail Tail gave a big smile as he said 'Shoutout to my camp Kings Jiu Jitsu/Striking Gym for getting me in tip top shape. I'm the boogeyman in this division... LETSCRAP!'.
