The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sampaio scores with a takedown into Forza's guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Sampaio drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Forza dives on top into guard.

Forza stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sampaio swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Forza drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Forza jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Sampaio seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Forza drops back looking for a leg! Sampaio is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Sampaio manages to kick Forza off! Forza jumps back into Sampaio's guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Forza is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Forza might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Forza wants to control from the top but Sampaio keeps moving.

Sampaio is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Forza defends well.
Forza forces his way into half guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Forza wants to lay and pray for a moment but Sampaio keeps working.
